Certainly V3; there may be performance issues with V5. You can used a wired GPS or a sleeve. _________________ Tim |

Hi Jas
TomTom works very well with my 3830 (32MB). There are a few issues to consider however.
1. For overall performance, it's best to have the maps stored on a Compact Flash rather than on SD card. This is true of most systems because of speed issues with different cards, but particularly with the 3800, as it has poor implementation of SD.
2. This means you will either need a CF expansion pack or a GPS sleeve which has a CF slot.
3. I used to use an EMTAC GPS sleeve which worked very succesfully with TTN 2 and 3 (especially with a quality fast CF card). There was a problem with TTN5 however in obtaining and maitaining a fix. With a sleeve you are reliant on the GPS driver in TT to obtain a fix and TTN5 is far too aggressive and 'impatient'. If a fix is not acquired quickly, it continualy initiates a seies of cold starts which causes increased difficulties in obtaining a fix.
4. I am currently using a wired GPS which is fine. There is still a potential problem with TTN5's driver, but this can be overcome by obtaining a firm fix before launching TTN.
5 Although the 3830 only has 32MB of RAM, it is possible to run TTN5 from the CF card and save sytem memory.
