Hello
Ever since upgrading to 5.201 i regularly get the fatal exceptions errors whilst using TOMTOM on a route. I have to reset the Palm T3 manual via the reset button. Previous to the upgrade I never got this on a regular bases.
Does anyone know how to resolve this ?

Are you running TomTom from RAM or from storage card? _________________ Lutz

Hi lbendlin
I think i am running it from the storage card, but not really too sure. How can i tell?
When i view the storage card via the Palm T3, the only application i have on the SD card is the icon for Contacts Navigation.
I normally launch TOMTOM by selecting TOMTOM from the a Category group / Folder. Or by launching to by pressing the side button on TOMTOM, i have assigned to button to launch TOMTOM

I believe you are running it from RAM then. Move the app over to the storage card, this should free up RAM and make your crashes go away. _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz
I have the same problem, running 5.201 from the Ram on the T3. other than start, do e have to move any other files across- like current map info, greatbritain map stuff & settings.dat? _________________ Skoda Columbus and for emergencies: TomTom + iPhone 4 & TomTom car kit |

Most important are Munich.bin and data.chk _________________ Lutz

they're already on the sd card under tom tom.
the files i have in ram are:
great_britain-24A02C86.mac
great_britain-24a02c86.mac
CurrentMap.dat
currentmap.dat
settings.dat
great_britain-map.cfg
start.prc
cn.prc
other than start & cn, do I need to move any of the others. I have no idea why tom tom duplicates two of the files. I just have the upppercase ones attributes backup turned off to stop the hotsync errors.

Here's my understanding of how it all works:
The two great_britain...mac files are your activation codes. You'll also have one in the great_britain folder of your card (which will re-copy itself to RAM if ever the RAM files get deleted e.g. hard reset). They are both duplicates for some reason. If you ever deleted all 3 files you'd be asked for your code again.
The .dat files are settings, preferences, favourites, histories etc. Delete them and you'll lose your settings/preferences, but no harm is done to the program running - it will just recreate them in RAM (empty, of course).
The start.prc is the main program file (and cn.prc is Contacts Navigator program file). Copy to RAM or run from card - either way, it is a stand alone file and should work as is. Whether you run the card or RAM copy it will still be accessing the data files from the card (copying stuff to the dynamic heap as it requires it).
All the other files (data.chk, munich.bin etc) can remain on the SD card.
This may be right, it may be wrong (if so someone please correct me)...it's the way I think things work. |
