|

I have the data.chk file that gives the real voice alerts for my TomTom One. Using it on the three speed cameras we have locally, all the quoted speeds are 10mph over what it actually is ie "speed camera ahead 40mph" in a 30mph limit area.
Is this what others have found or we unusual in Gosport, Hampshire?

Are you sure you allocated the right warning to each POI?
Did you use the Test Icon when choosing the required warning? _________________ Richard

None of the voice warning data.chk files have things in the same order.
You have to go through each speed category and set them up for all speeds from scratch. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Oh, I just downloaded Ray's data.chk file fopr my PDA and used it as it was. I did not know you had to set it up. Is there somewhere where it tells you how to go about it please?
Thanks

Prefs/Manage PoI/Warn when near PoI
Repeat this cycle for each speed.
Set the sound (press "test" to make sure you have the right sound - scroll through till you get the right one).
Set the distance you want for the advance warning.
Suggest you leave the "Warn only if on route" UNticked. If you tick it will only warn if you are exactly on route etc. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

The new voice warnings use the existing names of the original sounds (cow, polite 3 etc.)
1) Go to Change Preferences / Manage POI / Warn when near POI.
2) Select each camera file in turn, and for each one...
3) On "Remove warning?" page - Press "No"
4) On "Warn when closer than:" page - leave distance as is and press "Done"
5) On "Select a warning sound" page - scroll through the different sounds with the left and right arrows and find out which sound name refers to each spoken alert by pressing "Test" on each one. You might want to write them down for reference.
6) Once you have picked the right one for that particular camera speed and type, press "Select"
7) On the next page tick or un-tick the "warn only if on route" button (whatever is your preference) then press "Done".
8) Repeat from step (2) with ALL the other camera types.
There is a program on Rayflan's site to:
a) have more alert sound "slots" than the usual 15 and
b) to give them sensible names.
Find it HERE |

Why don't you all try the POIExtend utility from Rays site, you can have meaningful names to each warnings displayed and get 30 specific sounds (spoken if required) instead of the normal 15, it makes setting up the camera warnings so much easier - the down side is your voices that are loaded will appear with strange names (red light etc) but this is a small price to pay as the picture defines who the voice belongs to - Just a thought - Mike
