Then you have a malfunctioning speedometer, and should have it fixed ASAP - its a legal requirement (MOT Failure defined by VOSA). _________________ --

Err ... think that you may have that the wrong way round.
If the TT reads a couple of miles an hour slower then the speedo is reading too high. As others have said the regs allow speedos to read up to 10% too hign (but not too low at all) |

With regard to the 10% error that several people have mentioned here.
The error is allowed at 30MPH where the shown reading can be up to 10% over 30mph but not below.
This means that at higher speeds the error will in fact increase.
So at a true 30mph your speedo may show 33mph, whilst at 70 it may show 75 or more.
The GPS speed is likely to be the more accurate. |
