|
|
Hi.
My wife and I just got a PDA each (Ipaq HX2490) and are considering getting nav. software to use in the car - tomtom5 or similar.
Are there any restraints in having one system (one SD-Card) and using it on the one PDA that "right now" happens to be in the car ?

I'me not sure that answered the right question. Are you suggesting that you want to buy one set of software and try to use it on two PDAs? If so that is against the licensing agreement. |

Well you are both right.......
2 PDA's but only one car, and therefore only one GPS Receiver and one NAV. program.
I do think I would opt for a cable solution for the GPS receiver so I wont have to bother changing batteries in the bluetooth variant, but that's another matter......
My question was......we each have a PDA. Can I install a GPS receiver and have the "NAV system" on the SD-card lying in the car, and then use the system on "any" (mine or my wifes) PDA that for right now happens to be in the car ?
Thanks for the replies!

Under the licence agreement it's illegal, so you won't do that.. but...
You can install the software on PDA 1 and activate it. Then wait 7 days and install a copy of the software on PDA 2 and activate it there, it should work. Just make sure you don't have to reinstall it! |

I thought that when you unlock a map it is unlocked with a file on the SD card?
Would that make it so it will only work with the specific pda it was unlocked with hence scuppering the swapping od SD cards? |
