My Navman issue UK maps are less than up to date. How often do these things get updated?

Hi
Sorry to dampen your expectations, but the maps can be up to 3 years out of date.
It dose not mean that you have purchased the wrong GPS as almost all of them fall into this criteria.
The maps are created by third parties. From the on sought of the mapping process to the final production article. Any roads built or altered in the last 18 months are NOT likely to be on the next map release.
Regards.

This is not true in my example.
I live in the Netherlands and in my city there is a new highway.
They start with it 2 years ago and finished it about 6 months ago.
It already was on my map of 2004 ( So i don't have the latest version of the new maps).

Hi
I am sorry for any confusion. I am mainly talking about UK maps.
For instance the A 465 Heads of the valleys Road from Merthyr Tydfil to Tredegar. It has long been converted from a 3 lane road into a dual carriage way. Under the existing maps you have to navigate roundabouts, but being a dual there are none. In stages the GPS shows you driving in fields & not on the road, Because the new layout deviates fron the olb layout.
I have the latest map version for Pan European (SmartST 2005 Build 3,50,0088. Built on: 2005-7-18 11:09:08 (B)), its still as it was on the older SmartST version.
Regards
DRP

How do I identify what version of maps I am using? Also, how do I know when a new update is available?

TIA Smile
