|
|
Hello,
I am runnung TT 5.2 on an HP 2210 PDA with Checkpoint 5.0.2 installed. I use MS sync to keep the contacts folder installed/updated.
When I look up a contact, there is an option under 'Tools' of Navigate to. When I click on this [with TT already running] I am taken to the contacts edit page of address details with an OK/Cancel option. If I click OK I am sent to the iniial TT screen. Nothing else happens. If I gthen go to 'plan a route'I just get theusual options.
Does anyone know if you can use a contact address as the start/finish of a journey please? If so how?
Thanks. |

Hi
I have not used this feature before but have just tried it out on my IPAQ2210 TT5.2 and it works. There was a slight delay after pressing BOTH OKs but TT opened and planned the route once it had a GPS fix.
Hope that this helps |

There is a knack to this as it can be a bit tempramental. Don't have TT running. Then go into contacts. If you hold the stylus down on a contact you get a series of options. One will be "navigate to" and another "find on map". If you hit either they will automatically open TT in the right place.
However I think you can only use the "navigate to" option successfully when you have a GPS fix. If you don't have a fix then hit "find on map". Once found close down the map (TT should stay on) and then hit advanced planning. You can then choose the "map" option for either start point or destination and it will open the map at the place you just found.
However the whole thing depends upon you entering your addresses in Outlook in a particular way. When you enter the contact address don't just write it in the address box (as most of us do). Instead click the address button next to the address box and a pop up will prompt you to enter street, city, postcode etc. That way TT can recognise the difference between these elements and find where you are looking for (unfortunately it does not appear to search by post code).
However this is not infallible and TT may still have difficulties recognising the address, especially with house names or where there is more than one street parameter (Flat 4 Orchard House, High Street for example).
Hope that helps |

Let me say first that I import via MS Sync my contacts from Outlook, so to some extent the format is decided for me.
I have tried both of your suggestions. With TT not started either 'go to map' of 'go to address' will not start TT and the system locks needing a soft reboot.
With TT already running, either option sends me to the initial page. Going back to Contacts there ia a window 'Contacts Navigation' that states 'There is no matching address found, please check that fields contain the correct data.'
As a result I rentered an address as suggested, but to no avail.
Any more thoughts please. |

It is working (of sorts). That is the message you get when TT can't match your address to its maps.
The format will be decided by the way that you input the addresses into Outlook in the first place. You need to go into Outlook (on your PC not PDA) and re-enter your addresses in the way that I suggested in my previous post. Then re-synch the info across to your PDA. That way TT will stand a better chance of recognising the address.
You can try it by amending on the PDA, but it is slower and I am not sure if it is as reliable. Choose the contact, then choose "edit". A screen will come up with the details. On the right hand side of the address box is a small arrow pointing downwards. Click on that and a box will come up with fields such as street, city, etc. Make sure the address is correctly typed in these boxes.
But as I said before it is far from fool proof and be prepared to see that error message again sometimes. |

Thanks folks, got it going now.
Well partially, as TT will not load from 'Contacts' so I need to start it manually beforehand. |
