Hi
I have a clone Mio 168 with Medion, I have installed TTN5 and all is fine but the sat bars won't go blue or show sats on navigation page, does any one know how to fix this.
Any help would be great.

The update was made for the Medion MD95000 - Model No. MDPPC150.
I WOULD NOT TRY IT, IT MAY PERMANENTLY RUIN YOUR UNIT AS THERE WOULD BE NO RETURN IF IT FROZE |

Hi and thanks for your reply.
I think I need to be more accurate with what I have and what I want to do.
I have a Micromaxx (Mio 168 Clone) with Navteq on board, the software that comes with it is Medion Navigator 5.
What I have done is removed the Medion software from the SD card and also from the PDA, leaving me with just the Sat. symbol in the bottom right of screen.
I have installed TTN5 and all is OK appart from I can't see how many Sats. there are in the Sat bar and on the Sats page they stay grey and don't turn to blue, also it seems to take longer than my old origonal Mio 168 to get a Sat. lock.
Is it ok to use the firmware update that you quote above to solve my problems with the system I have quoted above.
Thanks for your help

WOW tried it, Works 100 percent PERFECT.
If you have just bought the Micromaxx (MDPPC 150) Medion, and you want TTN5 on this is a must, and it gets rid of the Medion GPS symbol in the bottom right of PDA screen, you get instant Sat. fix, and they turn blue.
Thanks GPS Team

The firmware update was made some 12 months ago for the Medion 95000, so I just don't know if it would work for these later models.
I must admit that when I put TT5 onto the Medion I had the same thing as you have, TT5 took about 3-5 mins to get a lock at the best of times and the bars on the sat page did not turn blue, but it had a lock because the map turned from grey to the normal colours and I could navigate ok.
With the updated firmware the bars did show blue but I don't think that I get a lock much quicker.
If I start (cold start) the Medion 95000 & the Mio168 at the same time now, the Mio168 usually gets a lock about 45 seconds quicker than the Medion.
Because firmware updates can make a system useless I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DOING IT.
Even on the Mio168 TT5 is a lot slower to lock on than TT3, and this I have seen in the forums here with several makes of PDA's/GPS units, so it's not just the Medion combination.
Sorry to sound so negative, but better to have a slow lock than no lock at all with a useless system. |

I'm another Medion/168/Micromaxx/PPC150/Partridge in a Pear Tree user and I confirm you get much better GPS reception here, and yes a nifty sattlite display. I still have the GPS icon in the system try, but its "off" and only comes on when tomtom accesses it. Ditch the medion stuff too ;) |
