It looks good, if a little bright for night use, I assume the brilliance can be turned down, how about some day light shots, I appreciate its more difficult with the camera at this time of year (low sun angles etc) - Mike |

Can anyone please clarify what is the up-to-date position regarding the future legality of such devices -e.g. the date from which they are to become illegal, whether people who bought them before they become illegal may continue to legally use them, whether there is to be a phasing-in period for the new law or whether such devices will become illegal overnight? Thanks. |

GPS systems are 100% legal and they are not going to be made illegal. |

Thank you for your advices. Sorry, I put my question clumsily. I appreciate that passive -GPS- safety camera detectors are legal. I was trying to ascertain the situation with regard to active detectors like Snooper, Angel, Pulse etc. I should be so grateful if anyone knows the uptodate position on the points I previously asked so I may decide whether or not it is worth buying one of these units? Also, would anyone know, please, whether any of these devices -passive/GPS or active-displays the legal speed limit? Often, there are no road signs for miles along some roads to remind drivers of the legal speed limit, making it all too easy to accidentally fall foul of restrictions. Thanks for any further help. Tony. |

They are trying to ban Radar detectors(Ka/K band)and laser jammers,This has been going on for quite a while and so far nothing has happened.
And if anything it will be a long way off.
The Drivesmart system does not detect live radar.
The Drivesmart alerts you via a voice alert to the Speed limit for the camera you are coming to and we display how much above or below the speed limit for that warning area you are travelling(In real time).
If you over the speed limit for that area you are warned verbally and visually that your speed is to fast.
We have a small video of the system in action on the home page link attached:http://www.drive-smart.co.uk/gatsom31.wmv
Lots of other video's and info on our users forum as well.

|
|
This is what is included in this release:
1) After updating the DS with new OS it no longer wipes the POI`s stored on the DS,Only updating your database will do this
2) User settings before upgrading the new OS are now no longer erased.
3) When saving a POI as GATSO/TRUVELO etc it also now allows you to save the speed of the road 20,30,40,50,60 etc
4) Change to show N, E, S or W rather than the arrow moving as compass.
5)BUG-FIX If you are driving with backlight off and want to save a POI
the backlight does not come on FIXED
6) BUG-FIX - If you are using silence mode and are under the set speed
limit eg 30 mph and then come to a camera which is set at 30 MPH and speed up just before the camera say 35 it will warn you.
7) SPECS calculator also adjusted for better accuaracy.
Defender2 software section:
Now the bits that will only be of use to you if your using the Defender2 and have it hooked upto the Drivesmart:
1)Shows you on the LCD what the Defender2 is doing including status, watching, warning or firing.
2)Temperature of the Defender2 pcb.
We will add later some voice alerts dedicated for use with the Defender2
And a really nice feature that will show on the LCD the exact gun you have been hit by I.E LTI20-20/Ultralyte LR100 etc! |
