Clem,
I read on one of the forums that the PiN570 is essentially the same hardware as an acer N35. It certainly looks very much the same, and the hardware spec looks identical. So the main difference is colour and the software of course.
I think that somone had tried it with an acerN35 USB desktop cradle and that worked, so you could try one of these accessories. Acer does have stylii listed as spares and they look a different colour but otherwise like the Navman PiN. The case should be very similar I would guess also.
just be careful as the Acer N30 is not the same PDA, but has more accessories (such as active car cradles etc ) available, so just don't get the wrong one.

Adek,
Thanks, I had heard similar before but was after confirmation before spending hard earned cash. Maybe I should try some of the cheaper things first.
Nice avatar by the way, looks strangely familiar |

Clem, let me know if you try anything out, I was thinking about the N35 desktop cradle, it was about 20£ I think, but looks to be better than the standard usb PC cable.
I did also think about the SDIO WiFi, it should work I am reasonably sure, but, with this in place, you have no SD memory, so it has real limitations in what it'll do and for the 50-80£ not sure its worth it for i'll do with it .

Hi folks,
Just about to purchase the Pin570 (almost certain ) and the lack of a desktop cradle was putting me off a bit. I've looked through the Acer.co.uk site, and can't find any cradles that are for the n35, only the ones I've shown in the link. I've had a quick web search too, but found nothing. Do you have any links?
Thanks _________________

Orson, when I looked at this before christmas, there were a couple being offered, just checked now and they don't seem to be there anymore...
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=122777
was the one I was going to try with my PiN570, but I guess I missed the boat.
If I find another I'll post it here.
Sorry for that.

Cheers Adek.
While you're at it, you couldn't post a link to the 'additional' ariel you mentioned in another thread could you
And I've seen some screen protectors here at 12 for £10. Are there some better/cheaper ones around?
Cheers. _________________

Orson,
there's an official antenna from Navman which seems to be about 30-40£, but I just got a cheaper Haicom one. it was 20£ and seems to work.
I think another poster , Subwoofer, bought one also.
You can take a look at these guys http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk,
that's where I got mine from and it works fine. The MMCX connector doesn't look that strong, I don't think it will break and it looks like all these connectors are the same.
hope that this helps, _________________ .......

If you still haven't had any luck finding an N35 cradle try good old e-bay. There is an outfit called fonecables selling what appears to be the same cradle as expansys.
Also screen protectors cases etc are all listed for the N35 along with a smattering of 570 items. |

Does anyone have any opinion on THIS?
And does anyone have any opinion or experience of PDA Hut?. It worries me a little that they seem to have the same product listed above here for a few pence more, but that could be a simple mistake I suppose. And to give them a try, £14 isn't too huge a risk.
I've been having a look on ebay, but haven't found a cradle/dock, just cables.
Mind you, I haven't even bought the Pin570 yet!
Cheers _________________

Guys,
There is clearly a need for dedicated pin 570 accessories. It is all very well people saying that this model is based on an Acer N35, but when I have questioned one particular supplier of N35 accessories they do NOT think they are compatable, they are asking various OEM compaines for spares etc and they will let me know when they become available. BUT if anyone has any success or even failures for other manufacturers/model please post it so we can all benifit from your experience good or bad.
Thanks |
