I'm afraid I'm not very technically minded, and am rather new to all this so please bear with me - I've done a search of the forums here and cannot find an obvious answer to my question.
I've been running TTN5.21 on my iPaq h2210, and have just ordered a new Ipaq hx2490 running WM5.0.
My question is how I go about installing TTN5.21 onto my new iPaq.
I've read on these forums of all sorts of problems using the TTN5 CD on WM5.0 machines, and I was always under the impression that I could just install the TTN5.21 update directly from the TomTom website straight onto my new iPaq without having to install the original version first.
However, the TomTom website says that TTN5.21 can only be installed if a previous registered version of TomTom is already installed.
Is this true? Do I need to find a way to force TTN5 onto my new Ipaq before I can install TTN5.21?
Or can I just install TTN5.21 directly to my new Ipaq, and request a new activation code from TomTom?
Thanks for your help - and your patience!
Cheers

99 views and nobody can answer?
Not even a link?
Oh well - I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens when my new iPaq arrives... |

Copy the tomtom.cab and ttn.cab files to your pda and then run them from there instead of running the .exe on your PC. (you can delete these files once installed)
Then put the maps on to your memory card.
Look around this forum hard enough and this is explained a number of times. |

I spent ages loading a brand new legit version of TT5 onto my MDA Pro. I did'nt bother doing any transfers from my 2210 as it was an illicit version (I should point out that I did buy the original TT3 and then paid out another £40 to upgrade to TT4 at which point it became a free upgrade so when TT5 appeared I just used a cracked copy), my mate simply copied all the files to his sd card on the 2210 and that was that, although he is without voice files, but that is easy enough to sort. |
