I found my BT 338 can not cold start when moving,it will never get fixed.
I tested it when I was walking or dring and when I was on train and aeroplane.
The only thing you can do is moving after cold started.
Eveytime before I drive,I need sit inside the car waitting my 338 get fixed, otherwise you can't use tomtom.
is it normal? |

Hi lostway
Sounds a little odd. Mine fixes in a few seconds whilst sitting in a stationary car (no big deal to wait) and admittedly took a little longer on an intercity express at full bore, but still did it.
How long do you have to wait in your car to get a fix? How often do you use it (satellites move about a bit over time)? Always from the same location? Or does your car have one of these newfangled windscreens that block reception? Might be better able to help if you can provide answers to these issues _________________ Garmin 2360LT

Try removing the battery and leaving the unit for about 1 minute and then re-insert the battery.
You may find it locks quicker.
Also what version of the SIRF software do you have? There is a known bug in the software prior to 3.1.1. Check the board here on how to check the software version (It is not that difficult). The bug was for those who had taken the unit on a plane and used it as the altitude and different speeds caused problems with the almanac and that in turn caused problems with get a lock later on. Hence the reason for taking the battery out and trying again. It'll make the Almanac be re-downloaded.
Great unit though! _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |
