How does the mount take both the single and dual PCMCIA jackets? Is there a gap between the mount and the back of the jacket when using the single jacket, or is it cleverer than that? |

There is Abo. Basically if you look at the last picture in the review at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/arkon429.php you'll see a photo I have taken at the top of the mount (looking down onto it), the 4 curved arms basically go around the curved left and right edges of the iPAQ, and the depth will take most sleeves.
Basically there is a huge gap if you are just using the CF jacket or PCMCIA jacket. TBH, you don't really see the gap as you're looking face on to the iPAQ, but there is one there. |

I use a dual PC expansion Brodit mount with a PC Card Expansion Pack Plus. There is some space behind the iPAQ - but I use that space to my advantage. I fold the expansion pack's plastic screen protector (the same as that on the cover pack you get with a new iPAQ) behind the iPAQ, and there's enough space for it to sit neatly behind the iPAQ in the mount instead of annoyingly swinging freely.
I don't know whether a similar trick is possible with this Arkon mount. Having a little space behind the iPAQ certainly isn't a problem.
