If you have the seperate GPS Mouse then the Port is COM1 and the Speed is 4800bps. _________________ Darren Griffin |

When you configure COM1@4800, does the small yellow/black circle at top right start to rotate? _________________ Darren Griffin |

You sound as if you know what you are talkiing about so please can you help me. And as an Magazine Editor you might be able to do alot to resolve the awful Helpline issues that ordinary mortals face.
I bought a Medion PNA100 sat nav which is great. But cant work out how I can add extra services. can you help please because there is alot of untapped sales potential in my questions that no amount of search of scores of websites on equipment, hardware and software answers in punter language. They all ought to focus on what the benefits are of their kit and how actually to DO IT! - not on the technical descriptions of what (they think) it can offer in real meaningless jargon. I have virtiually given up on these points after perhaps 10 hours of web reserach that no web site answers - and yet it is the fundamentals of what (I think>) some kits can provide - and thus coulsd SELL stuff to non technical people like me who are increasingly being drawn into these wonderful technologies - and then put off by the unnecessary complexity of manuals and helplines.
Here are my queries that i defy you to find ANSWERED CLEARLY AND SPECIFICALLY on any website a punter could find
1. Can I load other services on to my PNA with MS Pocket PC (Word excel etc)
2. If so exactly what doI have to do and buy ?
3. For example Can I load Ordnance survey maps on PNA100 and use then for navigation when walking -with moving display like I can for car navigation. If so what exactly do I have to do to achieve that?
4. Can I transfer my diary and contact detials to the PNA100 like I can transfer via Bluetooth to my mobile phone? If so exactly what are the steps
5. What other services can I add to the PNA now I have it?
If you can help I will be most grateful
If as a magazine editor you want t a punter view on Manuals and HELPLINES (what a misnomer! ) do call me I have great cases of personal experience (25 mins listening to music yesterday and then a HUMAN Wow! tells me there is another 15 mins wait to speak to a '(hushed awe filled voice) 'specialist technician')
Thanks in anticipation of your sympathetic response!

I will try to help you
I too could not find poi to add to the 100 so installed tomtom 5, If you have navigator 5 on your 100 you can walk or cycle with the software already giving the same feature as in the car, The mdpna 100 does not have bluetooth so you will have to install activesync and download your contacts or diary through the usb cradle if you dont have one of these you can purchase one from medion themselves for about ten pounds, The mdpna 100 is a pocket pc with outlook 2002 installed and should have microsoft windows for the pocket pc, You have a mini pc in your hands, I hope this helps, If you can download loads of software from websites, some free and some you have to pay for. |

Thanks - All worked perfectly on my Micromaxx MDPPC 150 running TT5
Strage though .... my Mio 168 (that was stolen) worked without any update on Com1, but the Micromaxx (which I just thought was a clone of the Mio 168) uses SP2 for the GPS setting and needs the firmware upgrade to display the sattelites ! |
