I bought my TTG700 in June and note the version is 5.201 and maps version is v 568. Your site and info on the ability to log new speed cameras states it can only be used with version 5.202. I assume 5.201 will thus not be good enough, but when was this superceded as my kit is still pretty new? |

I'm a bit hacked off, bought my TomTom from Currys a week ago and seem to have old stock!
TomTom One
App 5.41
GPS v1.21
Boot 3.30
Map 'Great_Britain_Map' v605
Birthday 29-9-2005
It suggests that there are at least 27 version updates to the maps since mine was written. I feel robbed, as it doesn't look as though I can simply download an update. I thought Microsoft was shifty, but their update policy is positively angelic compared to TomTom's.

Don't panic. It doesn't mean that at all. The map numbers are not sequential.
The big difference is that the different versions for the 300 500 700 and One will all have 6xx numbers, so a GB only map for the 300 or One could be 605 while a "Plus" map with the major roads of Europe could be 632.
It is still a point of huge confusion because TT won't produce a simple list of versions and launch dates. |

Hi Mike
I have just purchased a Tom Tom One, will these updated maps and SD Card run in my unit as I would like continuous mapping from the UK to Germany?
Also could I buy a larger SD Card, (currently 128Mb) say 1 Gb and copy my software to the new card then add additional maps or is there hidden files and embedded passwords that would stop this.
Thanks |

Yes. If you want continuos mapping you will have to use the complete Maps of Western Europe as shown here.
If you want to add individual maps, like these, you won't have continous street level mapping through out Europe.

Yes, there is no problem with that. _________________ Richard

Thanks for that.
Does this also mean that the software in all TOm Tom models is the same, i.e. should I do an upgrade the Go / 500 v 5.420?
Also does the map data base fpr western europe give the same amount of street detail in the UK as my current UK map?
Thanks |

Are these the same maps which come on a 700's hard disk - except for being on an SD card in this case? How big (capacity) is the SD card? Can you buy the all-Europe map (as opposed to a collection of individual country maps) on CD?
Anyone know what the performance is like on slower devices, such as a GO Classic? Does it take forever to plan a route because of the millions of extra roads which it needs to consider and eliminate? _________________ Roger

2) There are the maps of Western Europe that cost an additional 190 Euro that are upgradeable for 59Euro on CD. This will include UK maps, but if you didn't buy it at extra cost, you obviously aren't elligible for the upgrade |
Do you have a link to where on the site the upgrades are on SD? I can only find the downloads
Thanks

Go to Change Preferences page 6 - "Show version" That will tell you the map number. Then look back through this thread for what people have.
V6xx are the latest, not many changes from v5xx.
And V6bb is not neccessarily newer than V6aa, There are various versions of the same map data:- for the UK, UK plus, and all Europe, they will all have different v6 numbers. |
