Oh, and make sure you're using TomTom 5.1 or higher. That resolves some issues the application has with windows mobile 5. |

Thanks for the reply silverwizard but I am using a wired gps unit, not a bt unit?! I have tried it with a friends bt gps and it works fine!! its just the partnership between the wired integrated gps and the pda thats the problem! |

HEY PRESTO!!!! Two weeks of messing about and numerous headaches and it finally works!!! and all thanks to the help of all you fellow pda'ers!! I can't believe that changing one line in the registry makes it work. Ths line in the registry didn't even match the line under the com port 1 in the gps settings - it was completely different but took the plunge and changed it - no going back!!!!
THANK YOU AND THANK YOU ALL AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.
Nicky

In a similar vein - I have a bluetooth gps (globalsat 338) which I have managed to get X51v to read but I seem to have to re-configure the gps with tomtom everytime I open the programme, is there some way of permanently configuring it. (I also used the gobbledygook serial port option and it works fine) Its just a little irritating to have to configure everytime I turn the programme on.
Thanks anyone.......... |

1. What operating system are you using? (eg. WM5 or WM2003SE)
2. What version of TomTom5 are you using? (latest is 5.21)
I have x50v running WM5 with globalsat 338 - no problems here. Answer the above first and we'll see what we can do

Thanks for the reply.
I think I may have been suffering from impatience due to previous failures and just assuming there was a problem as I have had so many already It may just have been due to the receiver not having picked up as quickly as I thought it would and tomtom acknowledging it slowly and consequently saying there was no gps. I'm hoping I just threw my teddy in the corner too soon.
However, I'm operating on WM5 and tomtom 5.21
Thank you - appreciated |
