Hi all
Don’t all shout at once?
My Brother has just purchased a TT 300. He wants to put his Sd card maps onto another larger card. But he keeps getting the TT saying that the new card is not installed in his TT.
He has tried copying the original card to the HD computer via a card reader the back onto the new card. But the TT keeps telling him no card installed.
As a Navman user I now how to do it with my kit so I am asking you, what is he doing wrong?
In anticipation I will say thanks for any help on this one.
Regards

Sounds like hes doing eveything ok.
Has the card being formated ?
Try the card in another device.
There is a list of sdcards TomTom does not like maybe its one of them, I just can't find the post right now. What make of card is it? I'm sure somebody will shout if they have one working in their TomTom. _________________ Ray

Hi DRP - apart from TomTom not liking some makes of cards, I had problems as your brother with the original card which came with the TT.
I formatted my original card and tried copying the map files back to it. TomTom didn't like it! I tried many different format parameters from the Windows XP command line but nothing worked. The only way I could get it to work was to format the card in a Windows 98 computer and then copy the files over. It worked - and still does :D
Some people have found that putting the card in a camera which takes SD cards, and formatting it in the camera, then copying your files to the card also works.
Hope you get it sorted! |

Hi all
I have found this problem with my Digital camera. I no longer format it via PC as the camera dose not like it.
I have read that they format either in Fats or Fats 8 or something like that.
so yes you are correct.
Dose anyone know what TT format at.
Regards

TomTom is supposed to be able to use either. In mu experience FAT16 (or just FAT), seems to work the best. _________________ Richard

Have you tried using the Backup/Restore facility on the supplied CD?
i.e. Backup the old card then insert the new card into Tom Tom then restore.
See below for similar problem.

I found that plugging my TT300 into my PC really messed up the PC. It didn't recognise the TT and locked up.
When I unplugged the TT all was OK.
So I use my card reader, and have had no problems at all.
Make sure you click on Safely Remove Hardware when removing the card from the card reader though.
I keep the original SD card supplied with the TT & have purchased from Amazon a 512 SD card (Cheapest at the time) and use that in the TT.
Just to be on the safe side I keep copies of the original SD card and the 512 on my PC.
Hope this helps. |
