|
|
I have just downloaded December's POIs and went to update my iCN510 with the data but MS Active sync would not recognise the device. I checked for later software and found v 4.1.0 (Build 4841) on the MS site and downloaded it and overwrote the old version. Reconnected the Navman and it was instantly recognised. However, when I started the Smart ST Desktop (v3 for iCN series i3_1_2_31) it come up with the dialog " A problem with your iCN has been detected. Power off and on to fix the problem then click OK." Did this with no result....several times, in fact.
Thought I would check with Navman Technical Support but on navigating to the tech support web site it tells me Quote: | Error. The page you are trying to access is not available |
This has been the case for some time (for me). There seems no way to contact them.
1. Has anyone any idea what the problem is with my device
2. Does anyone have a similar problem with Navman tech. Support
3. Is there a later version of Smart ST Desktop
Any help suggestions etc. would be very welcome. Thanks. _________________ Gee-Pee

I know that you also have the same problem disconnecting the ICN from USB as I do. Perhaps in doing so you may have corrupted the memory or something...?
I still get the ASSERT error from time to time... |

Thanks Gazman, have now upgraded to SmartST software on my laptop to the v32 but still have the same problem. It's probably a problem with the laptop (!) Just hope Navman come up with a solution idc. _________________ Gee-Pee

You,ve probley tried this if you have xp you could try a system restore click start, accesories, system tools, system restore, follow on screen intructions and you can restore your pc to an earlier time you can undo it to your present time if it does not work...

I suspect it may be somthing to do with firewall or AntiVirus programmes. I'm reluctant to use System restore but will do and if it doesn't work I can always undo restore. Thanks _________________ Gee-Pee

Thansk Gazman but I have no problem with ActiveSync - that recognises the Device immediately. However, as soon as I open Navman SmartST program that is what says it cannot find the iCN510 (device). I'll persevere _________________ Gee-Pee

The latest on this problem is firstly that I have solved it! :o
Not that I have had any help from Navman. It is Christmas and they are very busy but....
I phoned them today and after about 15 min wait got through & spoke to a charming girl who knew nothing but promised that an engineer would respond as soon as he was free from his current call. That was 7 hours ago.
As I suspected this was due to a firewall. Why I still don't know. I run ZoneAlarm Pro on my laptop and this was not configured to let the SmartST Desktop act as 'server' and have access to the internet.
As soon as I reconfigured it and reconnected the device, success!
Although no-one else seems to have had this problem, I'm posting it just in case anyone does have it.
Thanks for all the interest _________________ Gee-Pee

Gee-Pee Do you still have the problem with disconnecting the USB?
I have a 520 and there is no way that I can find of "politely" disconnecting it from the USB cable. |

Yes, I do. My current method - and I don't know if I am harming the equipment - is to close the SmartST software, turn off the Navman (the Off button on the rear) then disconnect it from my computer. I'm still hoping that Navman will tell me the correct way of doing it. If ever I get a response, I will post it here. _________________ Gee-Pee

From what I understand, that's the only way to do it. I looked for the unit under 'Safely Remove Hardware' but did not see it. I don't think it does any harm other than a reset but maybe someone can correct me? |
