Does everyone bother to update the Mobile Speed cameras every time? I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. |

Yes, I do as it is certainly worth the effort of updating all categories every month!
If you read the readme.txt you’ll see the update information. If you look at the one for November 2005 (3.114), you’ll see that there were 146 new mobile sites added.
I also use POI Capture to record the details of all mobile (and fixed) sites that I encounter.

I think you only need to update once a quarter, like most members on here, if charging gets brought in i doubt i won't be doing that either.
Anyway, the government say NO new cameras will be put up, so you won't need to, and PGPSW will have just upset a lot of members. |

They (the government) may not allow new fixed cameras (e.g. GATSOs) to be installed, but that doesn't stop existing fixed cameras from being moved.
Anyway, as the authorities have already invested in mobile camera equipment, it would be prudent to presume that more (not less) mobile camera sites will be used, thus to answer james23_uk’s question it is definitely worth updating the mobile camera database every time.

Obviously the speedcam service is brilliant. However, I have to say that in 6 months I've never seen any police activity at any of the mobile sites listed. |

Hi james23_uk,

On my 5 mile journey from home to work, there are two mobile sites both of which are laid with tarmac and are clearly marked for official use only. In two years I have never seen a camera van at those sites whilst travelling to work in the morning or back home in the evening. However, when I occasionally need to go to the shops in my lunch break, I often see the mobile camera van at those sites.
Mobile camera vans only stay at a site for a very short time. Others in this forum might be better placed to say whether it is time based or whether it depends on the number of vehicles caught. Whichever way it is, I know mobile camera vans operate for no more than an hour at my local mobile sites.
