|
|
I was just wondering if anyone else is having the same problems as me. I have got a legitimate version of TomTom Navigator 5 Bluetooth purchased from Amazon and are running it on a Palm T5.
When I try to hotsync the update I get an error message saying there is not enough memory on the SD card (i.e. the card supplied by TomTom). I have been in email communication with TomTom but after a week I have still not been able to install it.
Is anyone able to recommend how I can install this update? I do not have any extras installed on the TomTom card, only the pocketgps speed camera database but even if I uninstall this it will still not work (only takes about 0.3MB of memory). On TomTom's instruction I have deleted all audio files, leaving only the standard 'Jane' voice. The only other thing stored is about 20 favourites, although surely this is not excessive.
I would really appreciate some suggestions, many thanks. |

If you have another SD card please try installing to that card and then copying maps over from SD / CD's if those were provided by Tom Tom.
The product code for maps is registered with Device ( Palm) and should work with new SD card as well. |

Thanks for your suggestion.
Unfortunately I dont have a spare SD card, I am sure that would work if I purchased a larger SD card but I dont see why I should have to purchase a new card when I paid £200 for the kit from TomTom only 2 months ago. Surely they should have provided a larger card?
Although maybe I will be left with no choice but to buy a bigger card.
Has anyone else has this problem? |

you can remove voices that you won't ever use - this will free up enough space for a successful upgrade. _________________ Lutz

I have already removed all of the voices, all I have left is 'Jane' - this is the standard female voice. |

do the upgrade directly on the SD card, not via Hotsync -that worked for me. You just need three files anyhow.
start.prc
munich.bin
data.chk
all in the \TomTom folder _________________ Lutz

Thanks for all your suggestions, I am now running the new version! TomTom advised that I deleted everything from the SD card apart from the Great Britain map folder. I did this and was then able to install the update in the correct way i.e. with hotsync.
However I think they also forgot to tell me that I should keep the voices folder as next time I used it there was no-one speaking!!! Once I reinstated the voices folder it was fine.
Out of interest does anyone know what some of the other folders do on the TomTom card i.e. the ones I now dont have? These are the ones which are no longer on the card:
2577
DCIM
Licences
Raster (always been empty)
Schemes (always been empty)
Zip
(and I no longer have the icon 'Start' on the SD card).
Many thanks
Great site by the way

I know what the ZIP folder does, have had to reinstall that to be able to navigate by postcodes! |

"Schemes" is where you put custom colour schemes you create/download
"DCIM" is, I think, created by Palm OS when you format the card and is used for storing image files/folders ("Digital Camera IMage" or something apparently).
"2577" "Licences" and "Raster" are news to me - maybe created by apps you have installed on your device? |

I have now put back all of the folders anyway, they all fitted. Bit of a strange problem I had but all resolved now.
Happy Christmas everyone and cheers for your help. |

'2577' contains the PPC cab-files for auto installation. You don't need it for Palm _________________ GO1005
