Brodit - Where to mount?

Looking for some advice....
- Thinking about getting a Brodit holder for my satnav so I dont have to have it attached to the windscreen.

Im not sure which would be best for me to get to use it in my Corsa, let me know the reason why you choose the one you choose!!

Console Mount

Opinions please??

I mounted mine as the middle diagram, in other words high up on the vents. I now wish I had put the whole thing lower down. Two reasons. Firstly, it would reduce the reflections which are inevitable and secondly, when leaving the car in a public place, it does not advertise you have a GPS. In fact I have a little notice that I put on the Mount to the effect that all equipement has been removed from the car.

Go for the second picture!
you can easily keep your eyes on the road and the navigator.
The GPS signal is at this point still very good received.
Only disadvantage is that you have less airstream in your face from the fan because the Brodit is before it now. But this is only a 'feeling' thing.
If you choose the first option, the navigator is too far away and can block some buttons on your console
The 3rd option, if you have a passenger sitting next to you then this person can tell you how to drive, but can the GPS signal be received at this level. And at this point: it might disturb your passenger because it is pretty close to his/her legs

From a viewing safely position, the higher the better.

From a GPS position, if it is included in your PDA, the higher the better too.

As for reflections, I have the brodit mounted between the vents on a SEAT Cordoba (Ibeza with a boot) and while the high position is more prone to reflections, I have been able to adjust the unit so that I have not had a problem with them - even in strong sunlight.

As for blocking the air, this is something I was concerned about, however, on a sunny day it does keep the unit cool, and when you have the unit fitted, it (certainly in my case) is further forward than I initially expected, so I don't have a problem, in your case, some air might get through to you - or you might have to use the other vent!

Since the photos are pretty clear - I think all you can do is have someone hold your PDA in the positions it will be mounted and see how it feels to you - it is after all, very much a personal choice.

Whichever location you chose, if you go fo a holder which plugs into the cigar lighter socket (rather than the one to be hard wired) - pay the extra for the 'removable' mount, it fits between the custon car fixing and the holder itself - much neater when the unit is removed - and far less obvious too.

Sorry, I forgot to add:

When adjusting to avoid reflections - don't stop when you get the reflection in one direction - keep going in the same direction - it may go before the viewing angle is unsuitable.

Also, while reflections may be difficult to manage, don't compound them with dust! A clean screen is essential.
