Help!
When trying to plan a route on my Ipaq 2210 running a genuine TT5, no matter what I do, I get the error "Error in Planning". I used to have problems in getting it to "talk" to my bluetooth satellite receiver but that's not an issue at the moment. After the error message, I tap on "Done" and it displays my current location and the map follows my progress. It also displays the names of the streets I pass so the information is there. Further, it shows my points of Interest as I travel.
I've tried the soft and hard reset but this doesn't help.
Is my software corrupted? Or is my IPAQ to blame.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Have you tried "advanced planning" which doesn't need a BT receiver to make it work ? |

Tried what you suggested but it's the same so it's not down to the satellite connection.

The only time I can provoke my kit in failing to produce a route is when planning a long journey (John O'Grotes to Lands End) and by selecting the shortest route option, it grinds to halt.
What type of card do you have the map stored on ? and do you have any other software running at the same time? - Mike |

I am running TT5 on an original SD card and there's nothing running alongside apart from the bluetooth connection. I tried to calculate a route from York, where I am at the moment, to Great Yarmouth using the postcode option. I thought that it might have been a software glitch so I tried planning a route to my home instead by clicking on the "home" icon but it still gave same error. Great Yarmouth is about 220 miles and my home 300 miles and I tried to get the fastest route. |

Try removing the tomtom application and re-installing it on the PDA, it might be time to consider a full hard reset (I hate sugesting this, although I notice you have tried this), prior to this drastic course of action, try downloading the TT vs 5,2 from the tomtom web site and load that, see if this cures the fault, if not then return the card to tomtom for a replacement as it could have become corupt - Mike |

Thanks for the recent reply Mike. I'm getting really frustrated with this system thinking that I should have bought an all-in-one TT. But, before I cock it up completely:
1.Is there a thread I can read so that I can back the original SD card to a spare 256 Mb card?
2.When you say a hard reset, what do you define as a hard reset? And again, is there a thread I can follow?
Cheers again |

If you have a card reader it will just be a case of copying the files off to your PC (make sure that you have all hidden files displayed)
If you don't have a card reader, you can do it through active sync, it will be quite a bit slower but will still work.

I would have thought that the only time you get an error option is when the tomtom can't find a route possible.
Do you get the same message when you do a shorter route?? _________________ -------------------------------------------------------
