Going back a few weeks I spoke to someone at Garmin who inferred the Quest 2 would be released in the UK very soon - has anyone any info in this respect? |

It is already in the shops in the Netherlands for almost 2 weeks now. Since garmin is UK based, it would be odd if things were different there... _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

I wonder how much this will actually be on sale for? As we all know there are usualy a big difference between rrp's and actual prices. |

Nearly 6 hundered quid me that's a lot of maps!
I may have to reconsider my needs and settle for something less expensive instead.

The 2610 is £520 in Comet and comes with full EU maps unlocked. You can't load the entire EU into the standard CF memory card but you can get a bigger one cheap enough.
The Quest 1 is about £320 and comes with 243 Meg of memory (not upgradable) and full EU maps unlock (UK maps are about 150 Meg)
Neither of these do POI alerts (ie speed cameras).
You could also consider a StreetPilot 320 or Nuvi _________________ Gone fishing! |

Postcode search is THE one thing missing from the quest 1 in my opinion.
Could garmin add it with a software update or is it hardware dependant? |

This is software/firmware dependent. So it could be added on the Quest 1. But, having experienced Garmin marketing a couple of times, I doubt te Quest1 will be developed much further. They are going for the Quest2 at the moment. _________________ Robert Elsinga =8- )

It is implied in the Garmin 2006 Catalogue that the Quest will be updated to do Postcodes.
It is possible that it's just a printing error mind! |

But those of us who haven't upgraded our Quest 1 to a Quest 2 still live in hope! _________________ Gone fishing! |
