I'm been playing around with the routing profile facility today but I can't seem to change anything. Confused I select advanced and edit (or create a new profile) and no matter what settings I change when I OK it, the profile has remained unchanged and as per default.

I have no doubt its something I'm doing wrong but the time has come to cry HELP Rolling Eyes

I doubt if it's anything you are doing. There are a number of user adjustments which do not stick on my PDA

I had exactly that problem then found my SD card write protect switch had been knocked so it was half way between locked & unlocked.

Moving fully back to unlocked I could then add new profiles.

Just a thought

That was what they suggested to me when I rang ALK support. But I have tried using a CF card and SD card, neither of which have write protect switches. And I can obviously write on them, because I loaded the software/maps to the cards using a card reader

Robin, have they said anything else? I'm going to try and ring them today.

I never had any major problems with CP5, however I upgraded for the increased functionality, most of which dont work!!!

Out of interest, which version is this (go to the "About" page).

I had a (unknown) version from T-mobile that exhibited that very same problem. I ended up with five profiles ALL with the same (default) settings before discovering it was "a known bug".

I ended up having to return my handset and software to T-mobile (long story of extremely poor customer service) and now have the O2 variant on the imate K-JAM and version 6.0.0.68 of CoPilot which DOESN'T exhibit this fault.

I have a couple of problems with the profiles. I set up a couple of profiles for quickest and shortest routing, then I set one up using the slowest speeds possible to allow for cycling. However from then on, even if using the default profile, the ETA time was far too long! For example I wanted to drive to Oxford, I left at 8.15pm and I know it takes about 40 minutes, but the ETA was 11am the next day! As I was driving along the ETA was dropping by about a minute every second.

So I thought I'd delete the slow profile to fix it - then found no way to delete it! So I changed all the settings to fairly average speeds and now it seems to work OK. Anyone else experienced this problem where adding a profile seems to affect all the others?

There is a known fault where ETA is calculated assuming a speed of 1 mph! Often uninstalling and reinstalling will fix this - it did so in my case and the fault has not reappeared for 3 months.

I reported the problem months ago to ALK. Last week they finally replied. The thought that this was caused by corrupted software on the SD card. They asked me to send my card to them so they could load the card up with "uncorrupt" software. I will find out if it will work when I get my card back.

They also told a new patch will be available on their website in 2-3 weeks which should resolve these issues. Let's waite and see.

I can't claim the credit for this, it was posted on this forum a while ago but I can't find the thread...

ETA = DISTANCE 1mph 60mph

\SD Card\COPILOT\SAVE. Using Activesync or a card reader check whether these files show up with a size of 0 bytes. If they are then you have the dreaded 1mph problem.

There is a specific sequence of commands which causes these files to be created empty but once fixed they appear to be fixed for good. This explains why some users have encountered the problem and others have not.

So now to the fix:
Start Copilot
Select Menu - Trip - Settings
Select Routing
Click Advanced
Select the Default profile
Click OK
Select Menu - Quit Copilot

Using Activesync or a Card Reader: Delete the empty usertrip.dat and userstop.dat in \SD Card\COPILOT\SAVE
Restart Copilot
Select Menu - Trip - Settings
Select Routing
Click Basic
Change the London Congestion Zone Warning (Check if unchecked or uncheck if checked as any change will force Copilot to recreate the files)
Click OK
Select Routing
Restore London Congestion Zone Warning (Back to your preferred value)
Click OK
Select Menu - Quit Copilot

Using Activesync or a card reader: Confirm that gpstrip.trp, usertrip.dat and userstop.dat have been created and are not empty.[color=blue
