|
|
I have just bought a preloaded SD card with TomTom Navigator 5 software.
I inserted the card in my IPAQ 4150 PDA, I thought that's all I had to do, but I am getting a message "TomTom Navigator 5.exe" is not a PocketPC application.
Can anyone tell me what I am not doing
Sorry I am a bit of a techno numpty. |

Opps pressed the wrong button and can't delete a post.
Hi Mike
I am assuming you mean the software ?
I purchased it on EBay, but I am assured he is a reputable TomTom dealer and it is authentic software with productcode key. |

I would try downloading TTN 5,2 from the tomtom web site http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&FID=3361
and try loading to the PDA from the PC (at least this way you will have the upto date software), then insert the SD card and register the product via the tomtom web site - Mike |

Thanks Mike, I will try that at home later.
I had hoped that TomTom would have provided a reponse by now, but they are a lot slower than you guys |

TomTom's support is considerably slower than continental drift...

Hi Mike, sorry about this but I did say I was a techno numpty.
I have followed the instructions on the TomTom website and downloaded the upgrade. The instructions tell me to download it to my desktop and this will replace the existing one and then follow the on screen instructions.
But as I don't have the software on my laptop and only on the preloaded SD card should I be copying it straight on to the card.
If I do copy it to the card I am getting a message of not enough space.
I tried TomTom again but there helpline is "very busy" I am not surprised if everyone is like me |

Fiona, what you need to do is dock the PDA to the PC via the supplied lead/ cradle and Active Sync, you can select Guest for the type of connection for this job - then launch the TomTom set-up exe file that you downloaded from their site (on the PC) this should install TT 5,2 onto the PDA (the PDA will give out a number of questions) just select/ accept as applicable, this will load the TT application on to you device (I hope) - if it warns that this application is intended to run on a previous version of windows just press OK - it doesn't matter, - Mike |

Thanks for your help on his guys, really appreciated your patience.
Spoke to TomTom last night and they talked me though it.
I shouldn't admit this but I had bought a dodgy CD and I because I had copied it to my SD card I didn't know it had been added to the Programs file on my IPAQ, so I just need to delete the programe and now it works fine.
Although I purchased to through eBay I was assured he was an authorised dealer and also has a large internet "store", although when I mentioned the name to TomTom they didn't seem to know the dealer. He could always trade under a different company name. |
