Hi
When looking to buy a BT GPS recently, to use with my Acer N30 PDA, I came across the great Holux 236 review on this site and ordered one soon after.
Up to now I've been using a Garmin eTrex connected to the N30 with a cable. This set up worked fine. No problems with MemoryMap 2004 or TomTom5.
Well the Holux has arrived and i've spent most of the weekend trying in vain to get my set up working. :-(
Noticing that the forums here seem full of helpful/knowledgeable folks I'm hoping someone can help me out before i pull all my hair out.
The N30 has Windows Mobile 2003 SE on it.
Bluetooth Manager sees the Holux without problems and lets me connect to it.
GPS viewer seems ok - it shows satellites and tells me the com port is com:6.
My problems are with TT and MM.
Neither of these can see the Holux - even if I point to com 6.
Anyone had any similar problems and can help.
Many thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers.

well i've played for another couple of hours.
Uninstalled/reinstalled MM and TT.
Still no joy.
Very little hair left now !
I've deleted the connection in BT Manager.
Set up a new connection no problem.
(I've not set the PDA & GPS up as a pair - i take it thats not required).
GPSViewer still saying com6 and showing lots of satellites.
So I'm guessing it has to be to do with the settings in the programs themselves.
Can anyone give me details of settings I should be using.
Or is there any other tests I can do? |

Hi,
Please make sure you close GPS viewer completely.
The software will grab the com port stopping anything else connecting to it.
Regards,
