Just recieved and installed MioMap v2.0 on my Miotec 269.
Installation of new maps took about 1.5 hours.
New interface looks good.
I hope to give it a try out tomorrow.
Cheers

So you've got your update then, lucky you. We're still waiting for ours although Mio took the money weeks ago!
Not that they would been much use at the moment as our 268 is suffering a problem that after three returns the service centre is singularly incapable of sorting out!!! |

hi mate, not sure about the 269, but the 268 apparently doesn't do full postcode search (only partial).
was the 269 the same, but with the new update, does it now perform a full postcode option?
also any other info on the performance of the update with before and afters would be appreciated, i recieve my 268 next week and need to decide on which upgrade to buy from mitac, so any help would br great.
thanks in advance |

The 269 does a full postcode search on Spanish post codes :-)
I live in Spain where post codes are 5 digits.
It only does a partial search on UK postcodes, just CW8 4, for example.
New interface looks cleaner. Some information on traffic signs displayed, speed limits, for some roads displayed. Verbal warning give if you exceed the speed limit.
Support POI warner for adding PIOs
Supports warning of road blockages and can autimatically reroute arond road blocks.
Haven`t tried this feature as it requires a new arial and a 12 Eur annual subscription for service.
On the whole I think it looks quite a useful upgrade but it it free, except postage, for 269s.

We also got our V2 upgrade now.
It came with a letter from the President, Moi Technology apologising for the delay and "to make sure the upgraed procedure goes flawlessly, please follow the steps described in the enclosed instruction sheet" ..... which like TD wasn't there!
The CD booted up OK though and I can also navigate it through Explorer. |

Well having installed the new V2 I am pleasantly suprised that all seems to work OK except that I cant seem to get any listing on P O I for banks in the central london area but have learnt that the thames embankment varies between -1 & 21 yards above sea level!!! can anyone tell me why this information is included on screen & can I get rid of it

You'll find the answer in p101 of the manual. To turn off the altitude meter switch off the "info bar" in "map information". But this turns off the speed indicator and the tiny compass too. I don't think there is a setting to just turn off the altimeter alone. |

Thanks for your reply Freddie
has anyone else tried to find POI's from the lists (such as banks, chevrolet& jeep garages ) and found that there were no listings, surely there must be some in central london or have I lost somthing in the downloads.
also is it not possible to carry out a simulation run except on an itineray not on a single destination run? |
