Hi.
I have a Nokia 6600 phone which I have installed Tomtom 5 onto the 256Mb memory card and it is working perfectly.
I installed the SAFETY CAMERA DATABASE which I downloaded from this site and this also works perfectly.
I have now just downloaded the update (October 2005) and there are warning voices with it for different cameras and gatso's ETC.
I copied these to the card in the phone but when I try to use them, I can't get to them?
I put them in a folder on the card, but in Tomtom 5, I click on CHANGE PREFERENCES / MANAGE POI'S / WARN WHEN NEAR POI.
I then select a POI that I want to add the sound to, But all I can see is BEEPS 1 to 5 - Cow - Bugle ETC which I guess are on the phone already.
How do I get it to use the sounds that I have downloaded?
Also, I would like to eventually get the sound files of famous people to put onto my phone? would this be possible? and how would I do this?
Is all of this possible on the Nokia 6600?
Thanks all.

The titles on the selection remains the same. If you Tap Test, you will hear the warnings as required. This has been mentioned quite a few times.
If you want to change the 'names' of the sounds, do a search on POIExtend.
As to the famous people, it depends what you mean by famous. Voices can be downloaded from nearly everywhere now. Some have to be paid for.
Check out the TT Webpage.
Definitely check Ray Flanagan's new site at http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/ _________________ Richard

Hi and thanks for the reply.
I don't want to change the names of the sounds IE: beep - cow ETC I want to use the sounds that I got with the safety camera database.
I have read on this forum about changing the names to beep cow ETC but where on the phone do I put the sounds for Tomtom to find and use them instead of the original sounds??
When I tap TEST, all I get is the original Beep sound - Cow mooing ETC.
This is what I am trying to sort out and I could do with a word for word discription of how to do it? |

Thanks for the info above.
I went to the link you gave me and I have read it and downloaded the DATA.CHK file and replaced mine with this new one and it is working lovely now.
(this was the information that I reqiured as I had just copied the sound files across when I now know that they have to be converted into a data.chk file).
I even downloaded the free ones with the girls voice from the Archers? (I think).
Now....
On the sounds it has some of them with speed limits.
On my list of gatso's and mobile cameras ETC there is only one for GATSO, one for Mobile ETC
How do I get the extra icons so that it warns me of the speed of the camera I am passing.
Many Many Many thanks in advance.

You need to load in the .OV2 and .bmp files from the speed zoned section in the download, once in this file you will find a folder for GATSO, Mobile and SPECS , replace what you have loaded with these files (only for these three catogories leave the Red light, Temp, Cont etc. Then managePOI warn when near and select the new ones, then select the correct voice. Unfortunatly TT only has room for 15 specific voices, to get more on use the POIExtend utility from Rays web site, you can also download the additional voice warning files you need to add in for the SPECS, they are in the Liz Whittaker style (I am not too sure if Ray has any other ones) these are .OGG file format - I hope the above is of some use - good luck- Mike |

What's baffling me is if you download the single camera database, and change the sounds on TTN5 with POIextend, how do you make these sounds work with the different cameras if they are all in the same file? |

Korndog, if you open the zip download using winrar it will present the data in files from which you can extract each of the files you need, unzip to the SD card (in a reader) and away you go - just warn when near POI and select each camera file in turn - if you use win zip it will display the entire lot as one extract so select the files you need carefully - I have full speed zoned mobile, gatso and specs along with the redlight, temp, continental each with its own specific voice file, and it works a treat - I have just done the same to my mates PDA in the pub and he is happy as Larry - cheers - Mike (from the pub) |

Cheers for replying but I know how to set it up for mobile, specs, gatso using seperate files but I'm sure I read somewhere on this forum that you can just use the single database which includes all cameras, and set up different sounds for each type of camera, but I don't see how it's possible if they are all in one file.
Maybe I have to use Checkpoint 5, or maybe I was drunk at the time (Good ole J.D. ) :D |

If its a single button update you need try the POI Sync from this site (there is a separate section on this forum to detail issues) - hope this is of use - Mike |

The reason I wanted a single file was to make the navigating smoother. With no POI's installed it's brilliant but if I add lots of POI's the scrolling is jerky and hangs on junctions.
This is with an XDA and I understand there are known issues which TomTom are trying to resolve. I have updated to 5.1 but there was no improvement at all |

In that case I suggest you try hiding all POIs, as that releases a lot of memory. You will still get the warnings that you have set up for cameras. |
