|
|
My TomTom 300 is displaying "No GPS Device" - tried Reset, tried different SD card (the original) even reset to factory defaults – no joy. – It has been working OK for several months, but I lent it out to someone and from what I can gather it just stopped.
Any suggestions or is it back to TomTom _________________ J. |

I've also experienced the same problem as Jimmy the hand.
It stops at a blue screen and bottom LH corner shows 'NO GPS Device'
Occasionally I can get it to a menu screen and it will find satellites on the configure GPS screen but after a second or two out of this screen it will revert back to 'No GPS Device'
Anyone out there got any ideas - my Tom Tom's only two weeks old, should I be worried ? |

The symptoms you describe are those of a weak signal. Are you trying this indoors? Are you trying it inside a car with a heat reflecting windscreen?
Have you looked at the signal strength screen? From front screen touch bottom right corner. On next screen touch the satellite bars on the right hand side. Next screen shows grey bars and dots. The dots should turn to grey bars and then the grey bars should increase in size and turn blue. When you have three blue bars you have a lock.
If not it could be a faulty unit. Take it back. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

It is connected to the external Aerial (where it has been working OK for several months). I have tried it where it would normally pick up a signal no problem - but no joy

Yes - no signal shown, and a message "No GPS Device"

It has been working OK for months (I got it when the 300 was released). What I am wondering is whether a completely flat battery killed has killed a setting somewhere? (The person I lent it to had problems turning it off - it was taking a long time to respond) _________________ J. |

No I can't use the [censored] web pages - they keep returning internal error - please try later

Have you tried it off the external antenna mount? It may be a problem with that? _________________ Darren Griffin |

yes - I don't think it is to do with the external aerial (though I will be checking the cable before reconnecting the unit) _________________ J. |

"No GPS Device" means no communications between the motherboard and the receiver. Coluld be either an internal flexi cable problem or a dead receiver. |

I assume that would explain the slow response when starting up - timeout while waiting for non-contactable GPS.
It is winging its way back to TomTom at the moment - so hopefully I'll get it back after all the 5.4 problems are identified and resolved _________________ J. |
