|

Looking at the database and instructions for dowloading voices to replace the tomtom alert sounds for my camera database It said click on the phrase to hear the voices to see if they are okay before downloading. I have tried this and could not get any sound at all. I believe the files have a " .ogg " extension and will not play on my Windows media player !!!!!. What should I do next?
I have downloaded and configured the camera poi's and they are working great with the tomtom 5 sound alerts.
It seems to me the Navigator 3 was best suited for this as it gave you a series of voice alerts as you appraoched. |

Go to this site www.tomtomsatnav.info and download the relevent speed warnings file set applicable to your version of TT (real voice warnings) - if you want the SPECS voices as well then I am afraid it gets more dificult as TT only allow 15 individual voice warnings, you can extend this to 30 using an application from this site and the .OGG files are what the program needs to work with, hope this gives you an idea - Mike |

Thankyou Mike for the site info. I have not installed the voice prompts yet but the site downloads would seem to be what I am after. I am now also browsing other interesting things and info on the site as well.
It looks a great site for the tomtom enthusiast. Thanks again for your help. |

Hi all
I have downloaded the extended PIO and ogg' s as below.
I Tested the voices before I transferred to my PDA, reset the pda.
I now have the text but not the voices. Any Ideas please as i seem to be nearly there but its getting frustrating not to be able to complete. Thanx
TomTom Navigator.
Download poiextend.zip and unzip to your hard drive.
Open the poiextend folder and copy TomTom Navigator.exe and the data.chk file from your device into the originals folder.
Open TTN_POIEW.exe.
Load the TomTom Navigator.exe - 1
Load the data.chk file - 2
Changing the text in the green boxes will changing the text shown on your device for the poi warning sounds (Bell 1, Bell 2 etc).
Load the required ogg format sound file with 3 and listen to the loaded file with 4. Dont load anything if you want to keep the original.
Click "Save modified TTN file" and then "Build CUSTOM.Chk"
Copy the modified TomTom Navigator.exe and data.chk from the modified folder to the navigator folder on your device and reboot |

What you have done appears correct, one thought, did you re-name the old files or tried to copy the new modified ones across with the same name, the OS will not allow two files to co-reside with the same name, also check the sound levels in TT preferences - have you accidently turned the sound off Mike |
