I do apologise if this has been answered before.

Basically I am currently using TT3. I am contemplating updrading to either TT5 or CP6.

Basically my situation is that I am a mobile trainer for HP and always have a selection of iPaqs, one of which I intend on using for Satnav. The problem is that every 3-6 months I have to give these iPaqs back and I get new ones.

My problem is that if I go with TT5 i will have the problem where I can only activate the product so many times within certain periods.

What I would like to know is CP6 the same or will I be able to activate it when necessary. I would like to add that I would only ever want one product activated at anyone time and when finished with that iPaq it would be hard-reset before being returned.

I would be very greatful for your input on the subject

You can use the "deactivate" command when returning one iPaq, in theory this makes your activation available for the next iPaq.

In practice I had trouble with this once or twice (still couldn't re-activate after deactivating) but I usually got pretty quick tech support with re-activation.

But if the functionality is working correctly now you should be able to deactivate/reactivate whenever you need to switch CP to a different PPC.

I can only say so far as ALK's CoPilot 5 is concerned.

But I had it loaded on my original PDA which had to be returned (broken catch) so I de-activated copilot. I then loaded it onto the new PDA.

Subsequently I have de-activated it to load it on to a mates PDA (to check something out), before de-activating (and removing) it from there and finally re-activating it on my PDA.

All was carried out either automatically, or via the website. The ONLY problems I encountered were due to my typing (or should I say tryping!)

While ALK's servers seem to know the staus of your licence, and will not you activate it on a second PDA, if you have to do a full re-set of your PDA and need to re-activate CoPilot, the servers seem to be sensible enough to realise that although your software is already activated, it was activated for the PDA you are currently using, and proceeds without any fuss.

Hopefully CoPilot 6 will be just as flexible.

Certainly (if these forums are anything to go by) unlike ALK, TomTom seem to have a bit of a reputation for being less than helpfull/accomodating in this area.
