Hi,
Has anyone got the UK "safety"/(revenue) cameras database working on a palm. I have a tungsten T and BT GPS, trafcam do not support this, so I was wondering if there is anyway to get the pocketgps one working with this setup??
Thanks! |

Really ? That's strange, I would have thought the Tungsten T would have been supported. The problem with the safety cameras is which application you would load them into. You can get TomTom CityMaps, TomTom RoutePlanner and Mapopolis, all of which have Points Of Interest, but don't offer importing of custom POI's. You might be a little stuck there at present. |

Dave,
I think I'm right in saying that there's problems in the Palm world with compatibility between Palm OS 4 (Motorola processors) and Palm OS 5 (ARM processors).
The Tungsten T is an ARM based machine, running Palm OS 5. I've heard it said that various software, including all the TomTom applications, won't work on Palm OS 5.
That is about the limit of my knowledge of Palm OS matters!

There's a strange 'issue' with the Tungsten serial port which means that for some reason we can't make it work. But we will, especially now they've sold more than ten. I don't think our problem is related to Palm OS 5 as I have a subscriber with a Sony Clie on OS5 that has a working serial port. The TomTom software is listed on Palms site as being incompatible with OS5, though I have read something recently about a patch which sorts the problem out.
Bluetooth is a different matter - on PPC it just presents itself as another COM port, so we don't have any extra work to do. On Palm we actually need to talk to the BT GPS ourselves. Again it will be done. We're working flat-out on something else at the moment (which does include BT support) so hopefully that knowledge will be valuable in supporting Bluetooth on Palm OS. |
