I have TT3 and would like to upgrade to TT5 for the updated maps. My friend has TT5 and some of the features on TT3 don`t seem to have been ported to the new version. Before I commit, can anyone answer these questions? On TT3 if i hold the stylus on the map screen i get a navigate to option, this is very handy when browsing the map and getting a route direct to a location that wont show as an address (not in TT5 though?). Also, i sometimes have the map on display as i drive with no route planned in and the map scrolls leaving you as an arrow in the centre of the screen, (great if you want a view of a larger map with POIs.) on TT5 as you drive off the edge of the map it doesn`t re-centre and you have to tap the arrow in the top right of the screen to bring it back on the map, not very safe to keep doing this. I really hope these options haven`t been missed off the new version.
Thanks for any replies |

First point. With TT5 just tap browse map. Move around map until you find where you want to go (zoom in and out and move by dragging). Tap where you want to go so that the cursor flashes on it and then tap the cursor option at the bottom of screen. Various options come up including "Navigate there". tap that and hey presto .... it does
Second point. Can't really understand this one. I have map on while driving with no route planned. Map scrolls so that the direction I am going is up and my position is on the map middle and close to the bottom. I never have to touch the screen and the map scrolls automatically. My position never disapears off map. |

Thanks for the quick reply and answer to my first query. Sorry, i didnt explain the second point properly. On map view in TT3 my position stays in the centre and the map moves when i reach the edge of the map, i`m not shown as pointing north (that happens in Navigator view and the map rotates) It`s the browse map view i was asking about not navigator view as that is greyed out unless a route is planned. hope that`s clearer. |

Still not 100% sure what you mean but ..... Go into change preferences, then navigate to compass preferences (page 3). Click that and choose whichever suites you. I have direction up, which means the map rotates so that the direction I am travelling is always up. If you always want north to be up just choose that. Try it and see if thats what you are vlooking for.
Browse map view is not what you normally have on when you drive along. The normal view (that is the one that comes up when you first switch on the PDA without any route planned) is greyed out only until you get a GPS fix then it comes up coloured and starts moving as you do. |

To track your position on a rolling map, you Clear Route and, if you have a Sat Lock, it will display your current position with a blue arrow and with the map moving. _________________ Richard

Thx peterc10 for your answer, i`ll get him to show me on navigator view. Oldboy, you seem to know the view i`m after. He had the display on with a route planned, maybe that`s the problem (the map wasn`t moving) I`ll suggest clearing the route. The view is handy as it keeps the zoom level at your setting and doesn`t zoom right in as you approach junctions. |
