in my experiance tom tom 5 does shut down
normally when you get to the same locations
it does not seem to matter if you drive there
or view it on the map
example try and view
CR0 0 (Croydon) UK
Wickham Road
anywhere
if you get chance try and zoom in and out
before it shuts down
or
CR0 0 (Croydon) UK
Worcester Close
anywhere
then try and zoom in and out
mine then shuts its self down
if when driving you leave tt5 in summary route view it does not shut down
im interested to know how may other peoples tt5
shuts down at the same location
there are to many locations for me to list where i go that TT5 shuts down

Very strange but seems ok now
i have just downloaded the windows software update & installed that
TT5 still shut down
i then turned off all POI's other than Speed revenue Camera's & Redlight Cameras etc
( the main other ones i had on were Parking, Filling stations, B&Q, LPG, forbidden turns. (there is only 1 filling station {POI} in the locations i gave before))
Now it has stopped shutting down
on Map View and demo routes
will have too test it on driving route
But all seems well at the MO

Right i have just been toying with my PDA & TT5 yet again
it seems all ok untill i turn on POI's for Parking Garage & Petrol Stations
when they are turned on TT5 shuts down when viewing map & zooming in, out & Paning at locations i gave earlier
this may explain why it shuts down a lot when im in Central London
as i have Parking Garage on as i use them a lot also filling stations
i will give it a go with only Speed (Money Box) Camera's POI's etc on
hope above helps some one else out at least

TT5 is always slow when it has to display POIs - memory problem probably?
You don't need to have POIs displayed for them to give you a warning about cameras. Go into change preferences and press the hide all POI button. If you have the wsrnings set up in POI manager they will still come on, its just that the POI won't show on the display until you get within the specified distance of it. |

|
|
I think I may have a fix for those users who experience TT5 shutting down while on a journey. I had the same problem before but now everything works as it should be.
PM me for the file. Please post your results on the thread and include your PDA model and PPC version. |

For those asking me for the fix, please include your email in the PM.
For those already received the fix, please post your result after patching your TT Navigator. Include details like PDA make and model, TT and PPC version, etc... This would help other users who might wish to evaluate the fix.
Thanks. |
