|

Dell Axim X30 PDA crashed. Had to do a hard reset. After resynchronizing PDA with Outlook, left PDA in cradle and reinstalled the TomTom Nav 3 software. Asked for install of TT program then when prompted, asked for complete map of UK installation. Took about 40 mins to install to PDA. When complete, installation claimed everything was ready to start using TT software.
Took PDA out of cradle and looked for TT software. It was not there! Soft reset PDA but still no trace of TT software. It used to be right there on the Today page but not any more. The maps are installed to the memory card, but the program seems completely absent. Can't find any way to run the program!
Can anyone suggest what may be wrong! |

Are you sure that you loaded the actual program? You should have to install the program and the maps seperately. _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

One way is to install a newer GPS driver (that includes the Today screen
plugin)
Alternatively use the File Explorer program to find the Navigator app (under \Program Files\Navigator probably) and then create a shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu\Prgrams _________________ Lutz

I just put the CD in and when it autostarted, elected to install all the things that came up on the screen. I had not had the option to install the maps at that time. It did seem to install surprisingly fast though (i.e. about 1 minute!)
Would it be possible to have another go at program reinstallation even though the maps are now installed. They take ages to load and I'd rather not dump them if I don't have to. |

That's what I would try.
Can't see any reason why it wont work. Make sure that the actual program is installing. _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

Heeded your advice but still couldn't get it to install. Then turned off ZoneAlarm!!! Voila! End of problem. Installed like a dream. ZoneAlarm had been causing the installation to terminate silently. Thanks for your help. |
