I all

I hope this is the right place for this

Mio 168
Tom Tom nav ver5.1

I have downloaded the voice sounds from
http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk/voicesound.html

It say's tom go so I hope these are ok for my tom tom nav v5.1

I have found out from this forum that I need to rename them to
data.chk and install them to my mio168 in the folder programs/ navicator

I have some problems like

1....When I goto Change Preferences/manage POI/warn when near POI
I select Mobil Speed
Remove warning NO
Select distance 267 yrds
NOW this is where I'm confused
Select Warning Sound I how do I know which one to select for
which cam?
###########################

2....I want to alter one of the sounds
On reading thro all the post on here I get a bit confused to
what to do, what I have done is this

Renamed the data.chk file that I got from
http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk/voicesound.html
to cam.chk
Made a vif file and put inside it
test
cam.chk
Saved it as test.vif
Run it from the cmd with
viftool split cam.vif

this is what I get

53 @ 00073da9 : 01 04 329d 10000000 1e00037c 00 : 1841 = 0x731 : blocks: 51
828 space: 20015
!!! space is not a multiple of 4
!!! blocks is bigger than space
!!! blocks should be space-4
54 @ 00078bd8 : 01 04 23bc 10000000 17000360 00 : 1181440 = 0x120700 : blocks:
36592 space: 19368
!!! length is bigger than space
!!! blocks is bigger than space
!!! blocks should be space-4

What have I done wrong?

#########################

3....So I used the program poi-soundpatch-0.3.12
It extracted all the ogg files all ok

BUT I have nothing named like the ones on his site
I get 100.ogg 200.ogg
I cannot see anything like beep1 beep 2 etc

also I could not play any of them to see what is what I get a error from Foobar2000

INFO (CORE) : startup time: 110 ms
INFO (CORE) : opening file for playback :
INFO (CORE) : location: "file://C:\mio168\test\100.ogg" (0)
ERROR (CORE) : error opening file for playback :
INFO (CORE) : location: "file://C:\mio168\test\100.ogg" (0)

Now with the above program will this work for my setup

I'm a bit confused as to what you do with this program

As far as I can see I load in the top part the chk I got from
http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk/voicesound.html

Then got extract voices

Then I'm lost to what to do

Like I say cannot see beep1 etc

Do I click the "is your device a tomtom go
I presume not as mine is tomtom nav v5.1

I presume in step 3 I load into this my OWN recorded ogg file?
When I do it turns yellow

Then I goto build voice and another box comes up saying
select one of the OGG files used to build a voice etc etc
Now what do I select?

The LAST in this LONG post SORRY about this
Is on this page
http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk/poiew.html

which was recomended from this site

I cannot find a link to download
I have emailed Ray but no reply from him as yet

Like I say I'm sorry for such a long post but I thought it was better
to put in one post than loads of post to the group

Regards

A dum blond

Build, a quick welcome - I am mobile at the moment so struggling to find my post detailing exactly how to implement these voices, when I get home I willl re-post the link, as a starter for ten I sugest you re-install the TT aplication in total to get it back up and running, this will also ensure we restart from a known datum point, the files you have downloaded are for a GO unit which is not what you are running, you need the ones for TT Navigator version 5,1, hence the warnings you get when it trys to work - need 60 min and will get back to you - Mike

Have a read of this - http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=29568

You need to make sure you download the correct files, try the Liz Whitt voice warner from rays site (its at the bottom of the screen).

I sugest you re-name the original data.chk file in the Programs / Navigator folder to Old_data.chk (that just makes it easier to roll it back if it goes wrong).
Then re-name the downloaded file from Rays site to data.chk and copy it into the navigator folder. Once complete perform a soft reset of the PDA and then go to manage POI, warn when near - the stupid tomtom names should reappear (cow, boing, bell 1 etc.) and to make sure you get the correct one select test button, write each camera catagory down and tick them off as you do it - it just makes it easier.

Get used to the swapping of files and the cofiguration of TomTom BEFORE trying to make your own voice files, I personally would not like my own voice in the car - but each to there own, if you need further info on this then get in touch - Mike

Hi,

Heres the links your need for the correct data.chk for your version of tomtom

http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk/liz_mrv_ppc5.1.data.chk or

http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk/mrv_ppc5.1.data.chk

Either file will work one is Liz the other is Andy. As Mike suggests get your installation back to a known working state first.
Rename the downloaded file to data.chk. You will find the original one in the Navigator folder which is in Program files on your device and not on the sdcard.Replace the original whith the downloaded one.

Start tomtom and goto Change Preferences | Manage POI | Warn When Near POI
Select your first poi and No at the "Remove Warning" screen.
Type your distance and select done. The warning sounds will still show Bell1, Cow etc press test to hear the new sounds and select the one you need.
Don't put a tick in the box "Warn only if POI is on route" and select Done.
Do this for the rest of the camera pois

With the PDA connected to the computer vis Active Sync, you should be able to open Windows explorer, from here if you double click the My computer to expand the file tree you will see - Mobile device - double click that to open it up - then you will have full access to the files stored on the PDA - hope this helps Mike
