|
|
Hi; I purchased an iCN510 some six months ago - it's been sat in a drawer for three/four weeks, since I didn't need the services of the machine for a time. I've just taken it out, pulled the stylus out of it's designated storage space and the end seems to gone walkabout!
I'm not sure if it's actually come unscrewed inside the unit or whether it fell off elsewhere ...
Q1) Am I likely to break something by unscrewing the iCN's case and looking inside?
Q2) Irrespective of Q1, can a replacement stylus be purchased and from where?
Thanks in advance,
JR |

The same happened to me—the plastic head had unscrewed itself off the rest of the stylus. I used a straightened paper clip (all I had on me in the middle of Austria) and slowly prised the main part of the stylus out. If the stylus is completely in, its about 50mm from the side of the unit, so you need your clip/wire/whatever to go in at least that length. If you have the screw-in head part, you can see the size of the opening. I would try that first rather than taking the unit apart.
You can get spare styluses of various GPS suppliers who stock the Navman. Good luck |

Hi guys
I lost my stylus and had to buy a pack of three (so to speak!!) and they cost a whopping £24.99 plus £2.95 shipping. Accordingly, I have two spare which although I may obviously lose one again, at the above price I very much doubt it.
Accordingly, if you want to share the cost and buy one, drop me a PM and I will mail one out to you. |

You could always sell the extra ones on eBay |

Thanks, all, for the advice ... I found the end of my stylus ... eventually (on the floor at home).
However, that was *after* removing the four screws *AND* the single screw close to the antenna/flap. The main four went back in, but the antenna screw has now gone walkabout and there's no chance of my finding that again.
My unit still works, but the antenna doesn't stay up now - does anyone have an idea where to get a new screw of the relevant size and what size it should be.
Stupid to open it up, I know (and apparently pointless!) but one does what one does.
Thanks once more for any advice .... |

Your best bet is to use one of the other screws protem. Then go to an electronics repair shop to try and match the screw.
Note the antenna screw is notorious for working loose, has done it on mine several times. So I have sealed mine in with some clear nail lacquer. |

if you ever start using a full size stylus, you might be happy with how much better they work...they're just harder to keep track of. |
