|
|
Used to waste hours browsing computer ngs till I met Jane. Never thought there was so much to discuss about a GPS system!
In my browsing here and Another Forum I've read dozens of complaints about getting TT securely mounted via the supplied suction holder.
MY problem is the reverse - I can't get the damned thing OFF!
After a month or so of heaving, twisting and straining every time I left the car, I realised that sooner or later I'd haul the mount to bits, so it's been a permanent fixture on the screen for three or four weeks now.
For a while I used a nailfile slid between the cup and screen, but realised this, too, would damage the mount and scratch the glass.
Anybody had this problem rather than the apparently universal one of Jane falling off the windscreen?
More to the point, anyone got a good way of REMOVING a stubbornly-fixed mount? (Yes, I do use the release lever!)
Cheers,
Bill |

Most people just use somethng like a credit card (I use RAC card). Once you've released the lever slide card between screen and suction cup. Should pop off easy.
Of course if you've been browsing the forums you'll know that leaving your mount on the screen is an open invitation for a break in. |

OK, this has been bothering me for a while....
If I can't get the damn thing off the windscreen, how does a thief do it?
I have visions of coming back to my car one night, to find some poor oik kneeling in the footwell, with his head jammed against the windscreen, hands bleeding, no fingernails left, quietly sobbing into his hoodie with frustration. |

Haven't your mounts got the little tag which is part of the clear sticky part of the mount? I just release the spring on the mount and pull the tag from the windscreen and of it comes 8) |

It's on the Classic, but I don't know about the newer models. _________________ Richard

Yep there is a tab but the suction cup sometimes gets a really tight grip of the screen.
Maybe earlier version the tab is more effective. |

I just press down betwen the tab and the screen on my TTG300s mount, and off it comes.
I wrestled with it a few times before finding this technique, though :-)

Yes, BBC TV Channel 1 and 2 are still GMT +1 hour, ITV seems to have remembered. |
