|
|
I emailed the co pilot people this morning to find out more on ver 6 and any upgrade paths and they sent me this.
Thank you for your Support Question.
In regards to your question, yes there is a simple online upgrade form you fill out which comes through to us.
Once we have received this, we will then contact you and process your application.
Before deciding to upgrade you have to consider the following hardware issues :-
- PPC OS (CP6 only works with Win mobile 2003 and Win Mobile 2005).
- GPS Receiver must be NMEA compatible (Navman GPS receivers are not compatible with this version of software).
I hope this is of some assistance, should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
Regards,

Oi, it claims to do a lot more than that!
There are three requirements of The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) which CoPilot 5 fails to satisfy:
It must be of satisfactory quality (frequent crashes, poi alerts not working, bizzare routing problems)
It must be as described (the traffic integration which was promised has never eventuated)
It must be fit for purpose (it isn't for the reasons detailed above)
ALK, do the right thing and give us a free upgrade. Why should we pay £50-£100 to "upgrade" the broken software you sold us in the first place. Why should we even trust that CP6 isn't just as broken as CP5 was and that the traffic integration will ever eventuate? _________________ Gone fishing! |

ok skippy
1 crashes frequently not on my set up
2 poi works ok for me
3 yes routing isnt the best around but it will still get you to your destination
traffic yes i do agree with you about that but a lawsuit will cost more than the software is worth _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

Pleased to hear that at least some people get a good run out of it. 8O My setup (Holux GPS, C500 Smartphone) is pretty much useless for any serious navigating.
So, the 50 pound question is, Will you be upgrading? _________________ Gone fishing! |

Never had a problem with it crashing on my setup either.
I've had dodgy routes - but nothing too bad - and nowhere near as bad as I got with TT5 the first time i told it to plot a "Shortest" route for me - had me down farmers tracks, bridleways, and other interestingly unaccessible by vehicle places.
POI indication is still very hit and miss, and so unreliable I gave up trusting it.
And of course "Traffic" the least said about that the better, I still can't believe they managed to get away with that scam. Had they said when I bought my CP5 that it would be an additional chargeable extra I wouldn't be as upset as I am about it, but they didn't - CP5 was sold and marketed as including live traffic announcements and as far as i'm aware it still doesn't do it.
And now ALK have the audacity to e-mail me about the replacement for the product I paid so much for and received so little and offer me a special discount price of ONLY £50.
IT SHOULD BE FREE FOR REGISTERED CP5 OWNERS |

£50 is good enough for me. Instead of moaning about it, I'm going to see how much it has improved. So there.
I'll let you know. |

Its all very well asking for free software updates however someone still has to pay for the updated map data.
So £50 is not bad value for money considering how much the map discs sell for when you have an in car sat nav system.
I for one will probably pay for the upgrade, however I am going to wait until the PocketGPS show to try and see the product first, and also in the hope that they may be doing some further discounts on the day! _________________ Please follow me on twitter @mdyson1968 |

It would be a reasonable price for the upgrade if the original product worked properly but many of us are concerned that we would be throwing good money after bad... _________________ Gone fishing! |

According to the email that I've just received from ALK, it is a PRE-order, and they should hopefully contact me for payment within 14 days. I hope that they're just finishing the packaging, and not still debugging it. _________________ Ian
