Herbert Richter Windscreen Suction Mount Review

We had the pleasure to meet with Harald Richter (of Herbert Richter Auto-Comfort) at this year's CeBIT . This was my last meeting at CeBIT, and by far the most valuable for me. Not just because I snatched a goodie from Harald ;-) but also because of the wealth of information and insights Harald provided us with. I would like to pass some of this information on to you and will focus this review on a very basic element of navigation - the windscreen mount. The review can be found here.

Nice review. I have also had some success with the RAM mounting system, see http://www.ram-mount.com/ . I used a suction cup (one WITHOUT a lever, which works really well, surprisingly), and a magnetic plate. I simply stuck a plate to the back of the PDA with adhesive tape. RAM-B-148 & RAP-300. They do a locking sucker now too: RAM-B-166

As asked before any idea when the Herbert Richter mount can be purchased from (dell x5).

I have used one with a Mio168 kit (without realising it was a HR) but cant fine one to by "stand alone" for my dell

Any contacts?

When I asked Harald Richter about that he told me to "watch this space" (pun intended) for a new mount.

Maybe a self-adjusting mechanism with a screw instead of a lever? We'll see soon, I guess.

I am thinking of getting one of these for my car as my cheepo goose neck one is ruubbish. Far to much vibration comes through the bendable arm.

Are these any good?

I am looking at the one that is for sale at PDA Hut and GPS4Less. As new PDA's come out are they likely to keep expanding the mounts (which can be brought seperatly)?

Another thing is, how snug does the PDA fit into the mount, ie, if you hit a bump, will the PDA come flying out of the top?

They're very good at bringing out new cradle solutions as new devices come to market and they are a very snug fit so unless you're driving a land rover off road they're unlikely to jump out.
