|
|
Morning All,
I am having a probleme with my set home location and favourites on my second SD Card which has just the detail maps of belguim on.
If i setup my home location and some favourites they show up ok, The probleme is when i take that sd card out and put my sd card with the uk maps into the PDA tomtom will show the home and favourites which i have set for the UK map ok, If i then put the sd card with the belguim maps back into the pda and open tomtom i cannot see any of my home locataion or favourites which i had set on the belguim maps.
How come that my belguim maps on my 128MB SD Card never hold or keep my home location or favourites for belguim and that my UK Maps on my other SD Card keeps everything ok
Any help or advice would be great
Many Thanks

Have you got the write protection switch on the SD card in the correct position? - Mike |

It will read fine with the lock on or off, however in locked mode you cannot write data to the card (PC or PDA) - make sure they are not locked - Mike |

Just to confirm that the lock is off, I can read and write to the SD Card

I have looked at the above link and i have done the following,
Copy my POI's to my PC and then deleted the belguim map folder and copied it again from the CD, i then copied back over to the sd card my POI's which i have.
Now added a home location and favourites on my belguim map and it now seems to keep my settings,
Will test again in a few days
Many Thanks

Your problem is, the .cfg file in the map folder on your starage card is set to 'read only', copy it to your main pc, RIGHT click it, then make sure that it has no Attributes set at all, then copy it back to your map folder. |

I experienced the same problem with a second SD card. The files weren't read only. I copied the file cfg file - renamed the original - and copied the original back. Since then all has been fine.
I do sometimes wonder where Tom Tom gets the files it uses from, I'm certain here it is using the cfg file on the card but there does seem to be another instance ofthe cfg in a tom tom folder in My documents on the pda. Other files tom tom uses seem to have been copied to the pda and it uses those in preference to those on the storage card. |

I have had exactly the same problem and coincidently it happened again only yesterday.
My SD card is not set to read only and neither is the config file.
It is completely random when it does it and is extremely annoying because I have to re set all of the camera warnings as well as favorites.
I have emailed TomTom on more than one occasion and they always say they are working on it but no fix materialises.
I am guessing we will never see another patch from TomTom because they have got our money now so 'why bother' :x |

assuming the lost settings are in that cfg file I have a copy ready so if it does happen again I can just copy it straight back in thereby avoiding having to enter everything again. |
