Seen this commented on in other forums about cars being broken into when an empty docking station is left in full view in the windscreen. Seemingly there's a good chance of the GPS unit being left in the glovebox or under the seat as folk generally don't want to lug them around with them. Hence an easy picking for a tea-leaf and broken glass and no GPS for the driver to contend with.
Thought it may be useful to pass on and help remove temptation. |

good words of advice in those comments, and I suppose those tell tale rings (from suction caps) on the windscreen are another sign of personal navigation ownership that we should try to keep at bay.

Now that's really helpful. Just been out and removed mine but not got chance, yet, to clean the rings off.
Thanks for that. Could save some of us a nasty surprise! _________________ Gee-Pee

Unfortunately, this is very true. My brother works for South Yorkshire Police on a response team and they are seeing this on the increase. Thieve's are breaking into cars with empty mounts on display, not only to look for a GPS unit in the glove box or side pocket, but to steal the mount itself.
Take the advice - remove the mount !

Hi All
I posted my experience on the TT Go forum but thought I would post here too. I lost my TT Go on Sept 18th this year for this very reason. on reporting to the poilce they advised that sat nav systems were the new soft target for thieves now that the mobile phone companies have got together and blocked stolen phones across all networks. In my area (Swansea) 24 sat navs were stolen in 3 weeks so please be careful and remove the empty cradle also if like me you use a camera detector remove this one too. Ironically the insurance covered my sat nav through my company car insurance but my household policy stated (in the small print) .."goods away from home are covered up to £5000 but not in a motor vehicle
Cheers and stay safe
