Hi
Has anyone tried using a 500/700 on a motorbike? The reason I ask is I want a unit that I can use both in the car and on the bike. Also I think there must be a problem with the TomTOm rider otherwise where is it!!! |

I believe you could use the 700 on a bike; however, you wouldn't be able to hear the voice commands. The Rider however seems like it would be a pretty good option for what you are seeking, and it's available for pre-order. |

I,ve been looking at doing the same as you, linkink a go300 to my starcom intercom system. I contacted tomtom asking if the rider had a normal audio ( not bluetooth) output which could be used by an intercom system but was told the question was not relavent as the rider is not available to buy yet.!! So back to plab B how to link up my tomtom 300. It should be possible to modify a dashboard mount by fitting a 3.5mm jack socket and connecting it to the audio outpin pins of the 15 way connector that plugs into the base of the tomtom. I intend to try this but dont hold your breath. I,ll post an update if I get anywhere
Regards

Yes - the cradle can easily be modded to provide a sound source which will feed into a Starcom.
Here's some info on the approach I took. It's my understanding that the cradle connector on the later models uses the rearward contact set, whilst the TTG Classic used the front set. The principle is exactly the same though.

I wouldn't use a SatNav system with a Hard Drive in the motorcycle environment as the vibration levels tend to be higher than in a car. Although modern hard drives are very robust, they are more likely to fail in this environment than a memory based solution. Greg _________________ See web |

Let us know how it works. I'll be really interested to hear how your setup works with the 300. Would it be any different with the 700? |
