|
|
I have a second-hand iCN510 and recently tried to upload a few POIs to it, however it stated that there was not enough memory for them.
I am wondering, if I wish to put maps of UK and Ireland along with standard POIs and also speed camera locations in the UK, what size memory should I be looking at? Also, what size memory would people recommend for a good use in the iCN510 so that it doesn't slow down? I'll only be using it in UK but may well want to add further POIs in the future.
Also, what is the actual memory card called? Is it flash? What should I type in Ebay when I'm looking to buy a new card? |

What you ideally need is a fast 512MB SD card, thye trouble with going bigger is that some users have found there are compatibility issues with certain makes and Navman therefore only claim to support the 512MB card.
I personally use a SanDisk 512MB SD card and it works a treat. The full set of UK maps runs to around 130 MB and all the non post card POI's (speed cameras etc) will add another 5MB. So you could limit your requirements to 256MB if you were looking to save a few pounds. The trouble is that should you decide to add any other european maps you will later regret the small additional outlay should you need to buy another SD card to store these on. |

I thought I'd read on the Navman forum that it was the 1Gb card they wouldn't support. I bought a 512Mb card from Navman ...so why wouldn't they support something they sold ?
Some research on this forum's been done into which card performs best ....go find it ...but I think Sandisk was one of the best for performance.
I read the 1Gb works BUT the 510 can't load all the maps and one of the contributors found a way to load the lot but there was a way to do it. Ask if you wanna know how and I shall scratch my head ! |

m62-to-hull, I do not disagree with you.
I did say that I use a 512MB card as the trouble with going bigger is that some users have found compatibility issues. And yes like you obviously did, decided to go for the SanDisk card as that is what Navman stated they supported whether directly, or indirectly by selling the card for use in their product range. |
