I have spoke to one of my colleague who uses sat nav on boats more than i have and his advise is

he recommends you look at GPSMAP376c / GPSMAP276C and alos:

The megallan exsplorist 300 would be more than adequate for lake and costal use but you can’t get marine software to load on to these.

But the best all round solution would be a DELL PDA and big batt running some memory map soft ware, as this would also give you the features of a PDA. If you dont require these features then a Garmin might be better suited.

I mean't to say the SPORTRAK COLOR.
What do you think about the Sportrak Color for Boating?
