Hi
I am a new user ,i recently purchased a Navman510,but the maps on it only show half of the Bingley bypass in West Yorkshire, I e-mailed Navman and Teleatlas and got nowhere.
Can anybody please tell me if the new maps show the whole route of the Bingley bypass.
many thanks.

Hi,
its the same for the Selby bypass, and as for the Dishforth section of the A1..
How do we find out if the new maps are worth the extornist prices? |

The new maps that come with the SmartST2005 software are apparently the same vintage as those that come with V3 of the software. _________________ Tim |

Looking on Navmans homepage , there is now a map upgrade pack. Do I understand it correctly that there is no difference to the one orginally delivered with ICN510. I would then call this fraud.

The V3 maps apparently didnt work on the icn 520, probably because the data file has a different structure. So it would seem strange for them to not send out the new maps with SmartST 2005, and to put in extra effort to convert the old maps instead? I cant honestly believe they would do this, although it is possible that the European maps have not been updated for the 520 & smartst 2005? |

Hi - I Have upgraded my 510 with ST 2005 and reloaded the UK maps and I can comfirm that the maps have been upgraded, I have only been using the new software and new maps for a day but have noticed a big difference the main one being a new bypass is being built in my area and it is on this version of maps and it is not open yet !
Not sure about the other areas mentioned |

So did you get new maps? as you say you ReLoaded them, would'nt they be the exact same maps then? _________________ 2 x ICN-510 units now, 1 USA Unit and 1 UK Unit. Both working great and set up to perfection.

I purchased the Smart ST 2005 European maps from Navman, click the link for more details
http://www.navman-store.com/eu/product_details.php?id=193
You get a disk that allows you to upgrade your 510, you then end up with a 520 in a 510 case, as far as I can see the only option that is not available on the 510 is a setting that allows the button lights so stay on when the night setting is selected.
As part of the upgrade I loaded the new maps V3.5 (my original maps were V3) and as I said before these maps have been updated. |

It says 'Pan European' maps, but for UK & Ireland ONLY 'major cities'.
This implies the rest of UK is still based on the old version - can you confirm pse.
Also they mention new features:
New Advanced address entry wizard and address search engine
New Optimised routing and guidance
New Navigate to 'Home' Option
New Improve Map imagery including
Is this all different (improved) compared with the original 510 specs.
Thanks, |

I have not been in to a major city yet with my upgraded 510, I live in Hertfordshire and use the A1 daily, here are a couple of examples of the differences I have noticed in V3.5 of the maps
A1 south bound A1000 slip road to Welwyn Garden City (not a major city) -> on V3 this slip road was missing and it kept directing me to the Hatfield junction, this slip is on V3.5
I also drive through a town called Baldock on V3 the roads are on the map but the actual town name was missing (try looking for it on your 510) it is on V3.5
Also the Baldock bypass is currently being built (due to open next year) this is on the V3.5 maps
If you have a specific area in mind PM with your e-mail and the area and I could send you some screen shots
You do get the all the new features you have mentioned, in my opinion it is an improvement, a friend of mine brought the 520 so I got my hands on it and had a good look at the functionality and as a result decided to upgrade I suggest that if you are thinking of upgrading do the same you will know exactly what you will be getting and can then decide if it's worth the money.
I think that the upgrade + the european maps for £99 is a good deal but that's my opinion, if anyone else has upgraded I would be interested in your thoughts |

I assume you have the iCN510 If that's the case go here - http://www.navman-store.com/eu/range.php?category=Software+%26+Maps&range=iCN+500+Series
- where you can pay your £99 and get the latest software for your device including the upgrade from v3.0 to v3.5
If you only want the SmartST software, then it will cost you £29 _________________ Gee-Pee
