|

The GlobalSat GH-101 is a powered PDA Mount with a built in amplifier and a GPS receiver. In fact all you need to do is plug your PDA into the holder, connect the audio cable and navigate to your destination.
The GPS is activated as soon as the unit is powered and starts looking for satellites to confirm your location.
The amplifier though not powerful makes the use of a PDA such as 2210 which has a very low output feasible.
At the same time the PDA is held firmly in place and powered through the connector at the bottom of the device.
All in all this sounds like a potentially ideal mounting solution and priced at only £89.00. So lets see if this really is the case. After using it for a few weeks we have given it a thorough trial. Click here to read on and find out what we thought about it... _________________ Mike Barrett |

Does the antenna rotate to enable the PDA to be mounted horizontally (for landscape view in TT5)? If so, does the mount hold the PDA securely in this position?

Hi Robin2.
Yes, the GPS receiver rotates and so can easily be used for a landscape setup. _________________ www.easydevices.co.uk

Sean baet me to it...
The above shot shows the GH101 in portrait mode. You cant really see from this angle, but the antenna is not actually horizontal. It is at an angle of about 30 degrees. I gave it a try out and it seems to work fine like this.
There is no way the PDA is going to fall out of the holder here. In fact I tried some impact testing with the mount upside down and the PDA didnt move at all.
There is a slight question which I dont believe to be an issue of the mount and holder parting company. Mine requres a fair deal of lateral force to split them so it shouldnt bee a problem. You could always glue the two together if you were concerned though. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Its great that it works with the Ipaq 1710 but I dont seem to see a connector for the Ipaq 1900 series. Does anyone know if any of the other ipaq connectors work for the 1900 series? I know the USB cables etc are mostly compatible but the cradle may not be...
I think there are a lot of frustrated 1910 owners who would love a GPS cradle.

It's a shame that it hasn't got a vent mount, since I find windscreen mounts to be quite obtrusive, especially with cars with raked-back windscreens, since you have to mount them too far up.
I had a SilverShield with a vent mount, but found the lack of a third leg caused it to bounce like mad. I ended up with a Seidio mount, since that gives me a rigid and totally-unobstrusive way of mounting my ipaq 2210, albeit that I had to get it direct from Seidio in Spain. _________________ Ian

where did you get it from cos noone seems to have any in stock ?
I tried easydevices who took my order, yet emailed to say they have non even though the web site still says they do
then went to gpsforless, who also state "5 or more in stock", but you can't oder because the BUY button is disabled
what's the freekin point ?
BTW, did you get the correct fitment ? the 2020 and 2020i are listed as being different and the XDA2i is listed with the 2020i not the 2020 _________________ SW
