I apologise if this question has been asked before. Does anyone know how accurate the indicated speed is on the TomTom? The speedo on my car reads about 10% faster than that shown on the TomTom. |

Think you'll find its much the same for everyone (certainly is for me).
The speed from the TT is suppose to be more accurate. Apparently its not uncommon for speedos to over read. |

On a flat road they say it is more accurate than your car speedo. |

Yes, this has been asked before - but some time ago now. The GO reading of speed is accurate - typically to within 1%. By law, car speedomoters must NOT over indicate - so if the TRUE speed of a car is exactly 70 mph, the speedo must not indicate less than 70MPH. Car manufacturers therefore set speedos to typically read 5%-10% higher than true speed. So, if your car speedo shows exactly 70 MPH you will in fact be driving at typically 67 MPH - you will certainly NOT be exceeding 70 MPH.
I always watch my GO speed and ignore the speedo reading. I use my GO to set my cruise control so that I don't exceed speed limits where radar is in operation. _________________ GO 700 App 6.520 WE Map v568.0

My wife has a 406 which overreads about 2%.
I have an Alfa Romeo which overreads about 10%.
So it varys from manufacturer to manufacturer. |
