My magnetic holder just arrived this morning, which i plan to use to hold my iPaq to the car windscreen, using the included s/adhesive metal patch stuck onto teh back of a spare iPaq Cover-Pack.
a thought has struck me which i didn't consider before: the magnet on the holder-arm is pretty strong, obviously it needs to be - will this affect my data? i know SD cards are solid-state, but will the iPaq and the data in it be OK?

Which mount are you using ?
It shouldn't impact SD cards (magnets that is), because it's chips and not magnetic media, although you don't know for sure. I know magnets, especially from speakers can discolour normal CRT monitors. Not sure how it would affect LCD screens. |

Dave,
just got it from globalpositioningsystems, it's a "universal windshield holder" cost about 15 quid. taiwanese, but looks well made. haven't bonded the metal plate onto the back of my iPaq coverpak yet - going to do that tonight when i get home, and can use an alcohol wipe to clean the back of the coverpak thoroughly.
moved the magent to the back of the iPaq, and it doesn't affect the screen at all.
Quite happy with this solution - all the other mount solutions seemed clumsy/bulky in comparison, although i note the cleaner lines of the just-announced TomTom car kit, but silly price.
