TT talks about major route coverage within Europe in the UK version. Route 66 has nothing (the ferry routes just stop dead in mid Channel) and I think Navicore does the same. If this is the case on on TT5 what does it look like?

Does anyone have any screen shots? Anyone navigated across Europe without loading the 'proper' Europena map set?

Cheers! Wink

As far as I know you just get the UK map with the UK version, and nothing else. No major roads of Europe or anything.

That's definately what the TomTom site implies >> http://www.tomtom.com/products/section.php?ID=69&Section=68&Language=1

If you wanted to navigate through europe I'm pretty sure you'd have to buy the map upgrade Sad

There isn't a map upgrade for TTM5.

I wanted to have the map of France - the only way I could do it was to but a French TTM5 and add the map onto my card. Interestingly, the map needed registering, not the software.

TomTom have been promising map upgrades for TTM for over a year now. Don't believe they will ever come.

An unofficial / technical solution.... as TomTom have now standardised all their products, the map data / CD that ship with TT Navigator V5 works perfectly with TT Mobile. Therefore there's no reason why TT do not sell the Western European Maps for TT Mobile, they work...

I have UK, France & Holland all installed on my SPV C500

When I bought the French TomTom and put the map on my phone, I needed to register the map.

How does the registration process work with the Navigator 5 maps?

I don't know how the licence thing stands, beut personally, I wouldn't object to buying both and installing the Navigator maps on the phone, provided they needed registering. I wouldn't feel happy if this was a way round the registration/licencing issue and a way in which TomTom maps could be illegally copied. They may do everything they can to try to force Mobile 5 users into a situation where they have little choice, but contravening the licence still goers against the grain. Do the maps still need registering?
